Prostitution in India: Eyes Wide Open
This year in my History class, we studied India. We came to learn the disturbing fact that girls as young as eight years old are selling themselves for less than a penny. They do it to make a little extra money.
These girls get abused, some raped, and some even killed, for a little extra money.
We decided to have a penny war to raise money for an orphanage that takes care of girls who have been "rescued". Somewhere around $410 was collected, and with that they were able to build a new school and purchase new learning equipment, like pencils, books, etc.
This experience has opened my eyes. There are so many wrong things happening, so much shit going on in the world, that we don't even notice. We're too caught up in Paris Hilton's criminal faze to realize that there are a ton of issues that desperately need our attention.
Maybe I'm the only one, but I just find that a tad bit fucked up...

It happens everywhere not just india.It happens in every single country and its not going to be changed iether, its one of the oldest proffesions in the world and I respect them for what they do. For them its not all about sex, some girls my age are selling themselves on the streets because they have kids to think about.

Bush really needs to pull his finger out of his ass and look at what he can help with.

Its more than just india, sadly. Girls even younger than 8 get forced into human trafficking, its horrible.

So many people have no idea what's going on with the world. I hate that too, and you're not the only one. I don't get it; The worst things that happen are left in the unknown.

Yeah, I mean, stuff Paris Hilton. It's not like my Dad was on the news when he went into jail .. For like, the 2937298th time or whatever.
Instead of putting that on the news, the need to put on important matters like those girls in India.
The world today is so stupid and they don't even realise it.
It frustrates me. >_<
And I really wouldn't know how to get the word out.
Maybe I'll make a website and try to get as many people are possible to visit it.
I'll advertise everywhere I can. [:
