Elliot Minor - The Manchester Academy 2.

29th June, 2007, Elliot Minor playing at The Manchester Academy.

Well, that's what we thought. We arrived at the car park and then found out that because so many people were attending, they had been moved to a bigger place, The Manchester Academy 2.
I went with my friend Sam and we got near to the front before ploughing through some people to get into the middle.
The first support band, Shibby, were great. They had great talent and raw energy, often telling us we were the best crowd. It was their first time in Manchester and I hope we get to see them again. They played a few songs, a little heavy but not much. They were very interactive with the crowd, getting us to sing along and jump around. It was a great atmosphere that they created and they looked like they were having fun. Overall it was a great performance and I'll definately be checking out their myspace. They started an awesome moshpit, a load of people getting stuck in there, it was amazing. They threw out a signed tee shirt at the end of their set and my friend, Sam, was lucky enough to catch it.
The next support band was called Supporting Grace. They weren't as heavy as Shibby and some people sniggered when they told the crowd they were going to 'tone things down'. I thought that was pretty dumb because it's just their style of music, not everybody is into the same stuff. They shouldn't be so narrowminded. I liked both Shibby and Saving Grace. Once again, Sam turned out lucky. This time, he was standing perfectly still, his hand by his side when a pick thrown out landed straight in his hand. I was insanely jealous.
Whilst waiting for Elliot Minor to come onstage, there was some mega pushing going on at the back. We were being packed in tighter, and I managed (goodness knows how) to get at the front as they came onstage.
Elliot Minor were absolutely amazing. It was one of the best gigs I've ever been to. They stopped to read out a poem or two and got a couple of people onstage with them. People were blowing up balloons and writing messages of them to give to the band. It was just so awesome, a wonderful experience. The raw passion and you could tell this is what they wanted. They're pretty inspiring and I suggest you check out their MySpace.
The concert lasted for three hours and it was an amazing three hours.
Overall, as you can tell, a perfect show.
