Emo.
It's a style that some people like.
That's like saying, why do some 'goths' wear black?
Because they feel comfortable in it, they like it.
And so people may wear clothes in the same style, but they're not the same.
Not on the inside.
But maybe this generation is so superficial that we just take a glance at somebody and think
'They're an emo'
Or
'They're ugly'
or even
'I hate her because of what she's wearing'.
It's what people feel comfortable in. I hate the way that there are many depressed, self harmers in the world. But everybody focuses on the people who listen to music from an emo background. That can't be easy. It can't be easy to feel people's eyes on you in the streets, it can't be easy to be bullied for what you wear or how you express your emotions. And nowadays, if you dress in the clothes considered 'emo' you self harm. What a load of crap. People's ideas and minds have been molded to think the same as their peers or in general about things. 'Emo' has been in newspapers and across the news portraying it as 'dangerous'. So now because people wear tight jeans and black they're emo?
It can make you feel very uncomfortable to have people shouting abuse at you such as 'dirty emo' or 'go slit your wrists, emo kid'. Would you really like that? To feel outcasted just because of the clothes on your back? It's so pathetic, if they want to wear that style, let them.
Emo is a type of music and emo clothing is just something that has grown to be a sort of style to go with it. Like long black coats with buckles or belts are often considered to be goth. Or short pink miniskirts are considered to be preppy.
I disagree that all singers sound the same. Listen to From First To Last
and then listen to My Chemical Romance. In my eyes [or ears xD] they sound nothing alike. Listen to the lyrics as well. Different. You can't just say because it's the same type of music it all sounds the same without analysing it really.
And maybe the same messages are being portrayed. Maybe because they want to draw attention to the fact that people aren't alone. There are others like them in this world. It's nice to know that you aren't alone, it gives you guidence and I'm sure a couple of you have turned to a band in times of need. Many people have sung about the President of America and the War. This causes many people to speak up about how they feel. Having somebody sing about being alone or feeling pain can be just as good for them. It gives them somebody to look up to and it may give them hope. If each band had to sing about one topic or something it'd all get boring.
Maybe next time you see somebody wearing clothes you disagree with, think about it. There's no need to look down on somebody because of their clothes. It's petty and it's not a great thing to do. Not all people are the same.
If you don't like it, don't listen to it.

k..... GREATEST BLOG EVER! really good job... i would be considered one of both categories *emo and goth* but im just ME... no one gets that, no one they think im some sort of freak.... *hates it* i try not to listen to it but you know what sometimes it gets to you and you cant help but hear it, and thats when its sad, you have all the cutters and the burners because of it, the want to hurt themselves instead of others hurting them.... *is starting to sound more like a blog* but really my own mother is that way, so superficial that she can't see who people really are, just what the wear and what they look like.... you have a really good point! thank you for actually saying something

That's a great Blog! Really cool to see it from another point of view! You articulated your points great, and since I don't want to repeat everything you just said I'll leave my comment at that.
But I just want to letcha know, that I wasn't dissing emo at all in mine. I'm simply curious on how everyone else sees emo because I just didn't get the point of it. Seriously! There's a few emo bands out there that are alright, but I never got the whole image and philosphy behind it.
Maybe I'm just stuck in the seventies?

Great blog. Good job

I also disagree that My Chemical Romance and From First To Last are 'emo'.
But that's what they've been labelled as, I was using them as an example of people being called emo when they're not.

That is a great blog.
Although I disagree of calling MCR and FFTL emo, I do see your point, and I agree with that entirely. [emo thing set aside, I also agree that they sound nothing alike xD]
