10,000 Losses
The Philadelphia Phillies made history on July 15, 2007. They became the first team to ever reach 10,000 losses. They're the first team to reach this unwanted milestone not only in baseball but in any professional sport. I bet you're thinking "Wow, that's alot!" or "Wow, they really suck". All I've been hearing since they got their 10,000th loss are remarks like that, how bad they suck and they're the worst team ever. These are comments coming from people I know, who don't know anything about the Phillies, or don't watch baseball, or like the Yankees just because they won 100000000000 World Series. Whatever the case may be, they definately all saw it on SportsCenter on ESPN and that's all they know about it. It makes me mad that people make remarks like that and don't know a thing about the team they're talking about.
The Philadelphia Phillies started their long franchise way back in 1883. That's right, 1883!! If you had a team that's been around for 124 years and played 162 games a year they'd end up with 10,000 losses sooner or later. The Phillies are one of the oldest teams in Major League Baseball. So you can't say they're the worst team ever in any sport. They've been around for 124 years, play twice as many games a year than any NHL or NBA team, and play almost 8 times more games a year than NFL teams.
I am a die hard Phillies fan. I truly understand the Phillies and know their history. Yeah, they haven't been the best team but they're not terrible. To me this 10,000th loss means absolutely nothing. To me and all the Phillies fans I know it's just another number. We know how old the Phillies organization is that 10,000 losses were inevitable. Phillies fans aren't making a big deal out of it because we know it isn't a big deal. It just makes me angry that people who don't know anything about the Phillies are labeling them the worst team ever.

I'm a real Yankees fan, not a bandwagoner, but I've been to like two or three Phillies games and I can say this: they're way more interesting to watch than the Yanks. There's just more going on, I dunno what it is exactly, but I can see they're a team and they nwork together.
Sure, the Yanks can work together and oof course they're a team, but I'm gonna tell the truth: we're a bunch of million-dollar payroll people stuck together. I miss the 1996 - 2000 Yanks, I really do.

And I, am a die hard Cardinals fan
and I was quite pleased we delievered them this loss. Althought we've been having one helluva rough season and have no room to mock them.

They haven't really lost 10000 times... they've just found alot of ways they can't win

The Phillies have never really been good. the best years were the late 70s and early 80s where they made the playoffs just about every year and going to two world series (winning in 1980!!) Most of the losses came way before anyone was born (early 1900s) where they had many horrible seasons. Also before you judge remember that the Atlanta Braves have more than 9,000 losses and in recent years have always been one of the greatest teams in the league (with the exception of last year)
oh yeah GO PHILLIES!! (and try not to get blown out again)

when they finished the new baseball stadium, they began to stink.
