So far it has never saved me.

In today's society we hear things like "This band as saved my life" or "Music has saved my life." To me it has become a big cliche', but in reality I think it can do what people say; It can save people's lives. However, you know what I just realized not that long ago? No band has ever literally saved my life and you know what? I'm proud to say I don't think one will ever have to. Maybe one day somewhere, somehow a band will. I guess I've never actually had certain thoughts that would make me want to do certain things, (self harm or even commit suicide) which is a good thing actually. Who knows, maybe I have been prevented from actually wanting to think that way by the music I already listen to.
If any musician or band has ever saved your life consider yourself lucky. Why? For only one reason I could ever think of...
You are still alive.
(I apologize for the short length of this blog, but I think I made this pretty straight forward.)

You know what else is a cliche?
Saying that music can't save your life.
I've heard it time and time again.

A bonus track on the Used's first CD [I didn't know it was there] scared the hell out of me during a suicide attempt.
And thus, saved my life.

I think that phrase has become almost like what a swear word is to Gordon Ramsay.
You hear it so often that when someone actually means it, it doesn't have much of a meaning anymore and you can't take it seriously.

You're probably right. Listening to "American Idiot" helped motivate me to want to live again after my mom died but in the end, I kind of saved myself. I hope that makes sense. I've never had one of those moments where I could say "This band saved me!".

Tbh; Hawthorne Heights helped me feel like I was never alone [they helped]
False start made me feel like I could take on the world.
Evanescence made me feel like there was beauty in the world.
and redjumpsuit apparatus made me feel like someones always gonna be there.
Those bands HELPED to save my life, But in reality it was the messages behind the music that did it.
This is an amazing blog.

Its really a great blog. I think people use that term too literally and its a heavy term ya know? To say "OMG THIS BAND SAVED MY LIFE!" and just use it every other day is kinda sad. I mean, I have a heavy heavy respect for some bands (Green Day impeticular) but I can't say that they've saved my life either. Although they've gotten me through some tough times. I respect your input on it and agree, I am proud to say that I haven't been in that particular situation to where it got that bad. Good outlook.
