"What is your stance on gay marriage?" [sorry to those not in the USA]
I've always had a thing for trying to get involved in the Thanksgiving conversations about the government and all things of the like. It was like a big secret, and the deeper you looked inside the box where this "secret" was contained, the more you would find out about the family chain of this world and how the countries seem to be operating.
As I had begun to do this little search through the box of secrets, I began to think through my opinions on all of the big issues of our time.
You know, issues such as the environment, illegal immigration, foreign policy, gay m--...wait, what?
Yes. I know. Gay marriage is actually a political issue. When I found this out, I had to shake my head and take a double check. I was, and still am, in shock. How could something as simple as gender still be an issue today? I could've sworn that we had gotten over that centuries ago.
I mean, what's wrong with loving another man? another woman? Does the personal love life of another being bring up a warning flag for the sake of this world? Are there "noo-koo-lur" weapons hidden behind the emotions for the same sex? What could a simple ceremony do to those who have nothing to do with it?
I've come to realize that the major, if not only, reason for wanting to limit the rights of people who just so happen to be born homosexual is this:
religious morals.
What other way to keep society back in the stone ages than to pull out the good ol' book and damn people to hell for being themselves? After all, America is the land of the free for all people on it...
right?
Or is it just free for those who base their life off of the moral codes of a book? Because, please, if it is...I'd rather not partake in it.

you are so right in the constitution it says that all people have equal rights but now the political leaders wont allow gay marraige. i have friends who are gay and they are humans to so i think people should start treating them that way

a-dawg, are you serious? Now that REALLY angers me.
I think that the entire world needs a reality check.

*sigh*
I've ranted about this so many times...
What gets me, is we can't really do anything about it. We don't live in the land of the free. We can't really say what we want. We can't really do what we want.
I, personally, think it's ridiculous.

Great blog. It's the same where I live, because Ireland is a mostly Catholic country the government won't even legalise gay "civil unions", never mind marriage. It's so stupid and unfair.

Thanks for the input anyone, it's really appreciated. =)
Oh, and MAJOR applause to your cousin, fallen_angel.

amazing blog.
Alright I have a cousin. He's gay. He lives with his Boyfriend.
I think that is the most AMAZING thing. His brother ( my other cousin ) is in the millitary.
He isn't ashamed of who he is.
He can hold his head high down home and walk the streets.
Now, he is a doctor.
Would YOU deny treatment from a homosexual?
I don't think so.
And if you said yes to that question, well maybe one day you'll be singing a defferent tune
Anyway
Good blog
*claps*

Good blog. I completely agree with everything you're saying! It isn't fair that people can't marry the person they're in love with. Everyone should be able to be with the person that they choose, same sex or not.

Even though religion is not supposed to play a part in politics, is does, sadly. I hope the US who one on hand claim to be democratic (if not liberal) and leading the world, yet on the other hand are so damned conservative it makes a nun look sl*tty, can come to terms with this and allow gay marriage.
NZ has legalised gay 'civil unions', although they don't call them marriages in deference to the Churches, but the couples have exactly the same legal rights as any married couple.

great blog =] I agree, I think the government gets way too hung up on moral technicalities. It's sad really, because things like gay marriage being illegal can really hurt other people.

I have no problem with gay marraiges or anything, and I have no idea why people think it's such a huge deal.
It's their choice on who they wanna marry, they should have to force themselves into a big bunch of lies, just so they can have a family.
That made no sense.
I tried.
Nice blog. :D
