Politics Mixed with Religion
I have a question. What does God have to do with politics? What does Jesus or Buddha or any divine power that you may worship, have to do with ruling the country? In my opinion, religion should not ever be involved with politics.
Many politicians are against gay marriage because they say that's not how love is explained in the Bible. How about how it's explained in the Constitution? "All men are created equal, and all are entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness"...except gays??? To me, when politicians so that they don't believe in gay marriage, they're basically saying that they don't believe in equal rights for everyone as our founding fathers had hoped for in this country.
And does support God war? Does God support letting people starve and die in New Orleans because we're too busy renaming French Fries? I should certainly hope not, and yet our leaders still do it,despite the fact that they say claim listen to God for answers.
And finally, where was religion in the Constitution? The Declaration of Independence? Not all American's believe in God, so why do our leaders take such strong sides on religion? That's not a good representative of thousands of citizens. We all have different beliefs, whether we're a Christian, Jewish, or an Agnostic. It's a sensitive issue, and I don't think such complications should be added to an already complicated system.

i guess religious people think that their leader should be religious. god should be leading them. but i agree with you 100%. i have often debated this with others. when i think of a leader i want a person who shares my beliefs and is an honest person who will lead this country to become a better place and be a better influence to younger countries that look up to us for guidence. It is totally rediculous that people are making up stuff about Barack Obama being Muslim and its even more rediculous that they care. That just shows how much Amercans know about accepting others. the people that want religion in politics are the Christians who don't want gay marriage and believe a woman shouldn't have the right to do what she wants with her own body.
its bull crap and i hate it. i'm voting for Barack Obama because he is honest and fair, even though he doesn't share my exact view on gay marriage, hes at least giving gay people every single right that straight people have...i just believe he's too afriad people won't vote for him if he says he is for it. but oh well. you can't have everything you want in a politician...
well anyway, good blog. i like this topic. i love debates :). people need to be smart about things. forget religion, this is politics. if politics is your religion, you have something wrong with you. and i hate how everyone is Christian and no one accpets atheists, agnostics, and especially Muslims. Not all Muslims are terrorists. Most of them are really sad that terrorism happened in the name of Islam.
alright, end of rant, sorry. lol.

Okay, Here's what I hate about politics.......
Religion gets in the way so much!!! Why can't we just focus on the problem of the government???
