This is the story of my life, and I write it everyday.
Once upon a time there was a happy girl named Mariah.
Once upon a time.
Then that happy girl named Mariah turned 10 years old, and her life started going down the toilet, so she turned to music for an escape Mainly a band called Green Day
.
Then one day in eighth grade, Mariah got into a fight with one of her best friends. The fight lasted from July 2005 to March of 2006. Over that amount of time, Slappy found this wonderful thing called self mutilation. But throughout the days, she would talk to a person she thought she could trust, who ended up turning her back on her. She talked to her friend Tasha and said something along the lines of "Tonight, I plan on walking into the garage, grabbing the extension cord, tying it up in my neighbor's tree and hanging myself." It got too far and Tasha brought it to the school's resource officer. She was sent home form school and had to have weekly sessions with a counselor. They talked about why Mariah felt this way, and what could be changed.
Things started getting better, so the appointments were cut down to twice a month.
Soon, there were none, whatsoever.
On March 25th, 2006, Mariah was once again friends with Janet.
Things started getting better, until Mariah was informed that her dad had to go fight some more in Iraq.
The same things started happening. Mariah got bad thoughts, had a few hospital stays and on June 4th of 2006, she attempted to end her life.
She walked home from school, like usual, walked into her bedroom, tore a piece of paper from her notebook and wrote a note.
She left saying she would go to Tasha's and hang out, but she never went to Tasha's.
Instead, she walked down to the highway, and along that highway was a set of train tracks. Every hour, on the hour, a train passes over them. It was almost 7:00pm, which meant the train was due any minute.
But on that day, the train was running late. Also on that day, a cop just so happened to be patrolling down there for people that liked to tag stuff. He saw Mariah sitting on the tracks and asked her to get off. She said no and ignored the officer. She stood up and ran further down the tracks, hoping the train would get there already.
But the next thing she knew, she had tripped and cut her head open. The officer caught up and pulled Mariah aside, put a bandaid on her cut and walked to the squad car.
Her parents found out, and then there were more sessions with a therapist.
Mariah's family couldn't afford to keep up with all the appointments, so they stopped once again.
Things got better, Mariah's dad came back and everything was going well. Until she heard that her dad was in jail.
After all these years, she had looked up to her dad. She thought he was the most awesome person in this world, and nothing would ever be as awesome as he was. But she was wrong.
Now Mariah's family is falling apart. Her childhood was unraveled and left in the bottom of a fire pit. Her dad doesn't live with them any more. She only sees him twice a week.
She can't turn to Janet, cause Janet has been in foster care, and just moved to South Dakota to live with her grandparents and sister.
And she has no other friends to turn to, because they've all turned to drugs and alcohol. But Mariah doesn't want to end up like her dad, so she chooses not to hang out with those people.
There, I got it all out.

But Mariah also knows that a lot of people in the world suck anyways, so instead she hangs out with awesome people from GSB who love her no matter what smiley she uses. :D <-------She also taught me that.

Mariah sounds like a brave girl, even though she's probably scared of a lot of things. I'm proud of her for overcoming everything and sharing her story. =)
