Top Ten Best Horror Movies: THE SHINING
PLEASE! A KIND NOTE, THESE BLOGS WILL BE ABOUT HORROR, SO EVEN THOUGH I WON’T BE TOO GRAPHIC I’M WARNING ALL THE FAINT HEARTED PEOPLE IN ADVANCE SO I DON’T GET LOADS OF NEGATIVE COMMENTS AND I’M VERY SORRY IF IN THE VIDEOS I POST THERE IS THE ODD CURSE WORD, IF THIS OFFENDS ANYONE THEN I’LL BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO REMOVE THE VIDEO STRAIGHT AWAY!
Just don’t get too worked up about it okay??
I love horror movies, I my opinion it is the best movie genre. Now I’m not talking about those slasher teen horrors where everyone dies but an innocent busty blond, no, I’m talking about those horrors that keep you awake at night thinking that there is something in your closet, no matter how old you are, the ones where they make you think twice about trusting your smiley next-door neighbour.
Recently I was researching scary movies desperately trying to find one that would keep me awake until dawn, so here it is, a complete list of what films made me wet the bed and go into my parent’s room.
So I’m going to start writing ten blogs, one for each of the scariest horror movies ever made, I can’t decide on the scariest so the blogs will be in no particular order.
[WARNING! SPOILERS INCULDED]

The Shining
One of my favourite all time films, hands down this is a classic in the horror genre.
Based on the award winning novel by Stephen King the film is set high in the Colorado mountains at a creepy hotel which caretaker Jack Torrance (played by one of my favorite actors Jack Nicholson) and his family Wendy (Shelley Duvall) and little boy Danny (Danny Lloyd) have been asked to look after over the horrific winter. The job seems like a once in a lifetime chance for Jack Torrance to spend time with his family trying to pull his marriage back together and concentrate on finishing his long over due play. But as usaul things take a turn for the worse as the hotel cook Dick Halloran informs Danny that he has a magical gift that inables him to read peoples thoughts and have premonitions, this gift is called ‘The Shining’. Halloran warns Danny about the dangers of the hotel and tells him to stay away from all rooms, notibley in the book Halloran says that what Danny will see ‘Are like pictures in a book, they can’t hurt you”.
To cut a long story short a ghost of a past caretaker who killed his family convices Jack that his wife and son are dragging him down in thw world and stopping him from succeeding, the hotel later goes on to possesses Jack and tells him to kill his family.
The most famous scene is where Jack smashes through the door with an axe screaming ‘HERE’S JOHNNY!’. This is normaly in the top ten most scariest moments in movie history.
To start off with I wouldn’t call this movie scary, more like….Disturbing….If it’s not the naked, old, rotten woman chasing you around a room or the twins stalking you in the halls then it must be Danny himself and his atler ego ‘Tony’, who is like his ‘spirt guide’ warning him about Jack and the hotels evil past. Children are nearly always depicted as something to fear in horror movies and I think that director Stanley Kubrick truly captured this in his movie making Danny more mysterious then scary.
In my opinion the scariest part of the whole film is when Jack finally loses his rag with Wendy (who is really annoying and I personally I would have “bashed her brains in” days ago )
But I chose this part as the scariest because instead of being really gory or shocking it shows Jacks pain and Wendy’s desperation.
(Mild swearing)
Without spoiling the ending (which differs from the one in the book) this film is a must see for all horror loves, it contains jaw dropping moments, desperation, gore, horror, and in my opinion it’s just plain creepy.
I hope you enjoyed reading this long blog and please look forward to the next instalment SILENT HILL!

Ah, Great blog, I love the Shining.
I admit it's completely different to the book.
Eg: Jack was slightly troubled at the begining of the book and slowly lost his mind, yet in the film he was pretty nutty throughout. : P
Still, I love them both.
yayay.
lol I watched the film with my gran when I was 14, and then I got into Stephen King novels. : )

I haven't seen the movie, but I've read the book - apparently the movie kind of inverted it, made out that it was psychological rather than supernatural? Anyway, I'm planning on seeing it at some point and judging for myself.

HORRORS ARE BRILLIANT.
Although I've never seen The Shining, I will one day soon though.
Silent Hill didn't scare me that much, but it is good.
