Remembering September 11, 2001
The following states solely my opinions of the tragic events of September 11, 2001. Please do not bash or disrespect them. Thank you.
In today’s world, there are several if not many world issues waiting to be resolved, one of which is the War on Terror. The War on Terror is what most Americans may consider America’s worst nightmare. Seven years ago on September 11, nearly 3,000 innocent Americans were killed in four suicide terrorist attacks. Since then, the U.S. has realized that those to blame is the terrorist group called Al- Qaeda. As a result, our president has deployed thousands of us troops to Iraq and Afghanistan to fight back against terrorism. Despite America’s actions on the War on Terror, the spread of Terrorism is still very much in effect today.
The War of Terror started about seven years ago on September 11, 2001 when almost 3,000 innocent Americans were killed in a series of four suicide terrorist attacks. All four attacks were caused by members of the terrorist group Al- Qaeda who hijacked four airplanes. Two of the planes were crashed into both towers of the World Trade Center, as a tragic result, both towers collapsed. A third plane was crashed into part of the Pentagon, which suffered substantial damage. The fourth plane did not reach its target due to a flight full of brave Americans who fought back against the terrorists and crashed their plane into a field in Pennsylvania. Less than a month later, the War on Terrorism began when hundreds of U.S. troops were deployed to Afghanistan in an attempt to stop the world spread of terrorism.
Shortly after the 9/11 attacks, a distraught nation had one question in mind, who was responsible for the terrorist attacks? The answer is simple, a terrorist group named Al- Qaeda is very much responsible for the attacks, one terrorist in particular, Osama bin Laden. With that, the president deployed hundreds of troops to the mid eastern country of Afghanistan in an attempt to destroy Al-Qaeda once and for all. Once this happened, bin Laden went into hiding, he’s believed to be in the hills of Pakistan and Afghanistan. It’s easier said than done, unfortunately, the entire country of Afghanistan is not full of terrorists. There are innocent people living in Afghanistan, people who are good and live in a world that is very different from today’s modern world. This world is not technologically updated and does not have a government like America’s.
About a year or so after the attacks, the U.S. deployed hundreds of American troops into the country of Iraq, which is also located in the Middle East, in an invasion. The attention on the War on Terror turned to Iraq because the U.S. believed that Iraq was holding possession of Weapons of Mass Destruction that would aid terrorist groups such as Al- Qaeda. At the time of the invasion of Iraq, the people were ruled under the dictator, Saddam Hussein. Once the U.S. had found no evidence of weapons of mass destruction, another question came about, was Saddam Hussein connected to Al-Qaeda? The answer was, no because the armed forces could not find any evidence that said so. Hussein went into hiding, as did bin Laden. A few months later, the U.S troops found and captured him. He went to trial and was sentenced to death in November of 2006. He was executed in December of 2006 by hanging.
But, one question still remains though, where on earth is Osama bin Laden? Is he really in the hills of Pakistan and Afghanistan or is he somewhere else? Most likely, he is in Pakistan and Afghanistan because he is a Muslim extremist, and it would not make senses if he was outside of the Islamic culture. There are still troops in Afghanistan but most are in Iraq trying to make the effort to reinforce their new democracy. The focus should be on bin Laden and trying to find him before any more attacks are succeeded on the U.S. and its allies. But another question is, does Al-Qaeda have anymore terrorist plots against us. Sadly, the answer is yes, there have been attacks in London in 2005, and yes it was Al-Qaeda that was responsible for the attacks. Unfortunately, there are most likely more attacks already plotted. This is known because bin Laden has sent tapes to the U.S. giving information on current events with terrorism. Because of this, it is important that we as Americans try to end the spread of terrorism.
Trying to end terrorism is again easier said than done as there are several conflicts involved with doing so. One is that most of our troops are in Iraq reinstating their new democracy. Two is that there is the imposing threat of Iran and North Korea possessing nuclear weapons that are most likely in a terrorist plot that might be used against us. Three is that if we were to strengthen the forces in Afghanistan, it would quite possibly take a while to do so because, they would need plans on what to do and evidence to support it. Terrorism is clearly becoming and international problem and it does threaten millions of innocent people’s lives. If the U.S. and there allies were as serious as they need to be to end terrorism, most troops should be in Afghanistan trying to find those responsible. All in all the War on Terror is an extremely complicated war because there are so many conflicts involved.
The War on Terror has brought several issues to the U.S. troops’ attention. The most relevant issue is that Al-Qaeda very well could have access to resources that are deadly and can cause a catastrophe. Resources include, weapons of mass destruction as well as nuclear bombs, their allies that absolutely hate the country of America for example, Iran and North Korean and terrorist plots that may already be planned and ready to us against us. The War on Terror is a serious world issue. There are a lot of nations involved including the U.S. and Great Britain and there are many lives at stake. Only time will tell what is next in the War on Terror.

I suggest you read an article on 9/11 by Popular Mechanics. I believe it tells the truth about what really happened, and how corrupt our country is.

There is terrorism issues all over. We need to regain more control and preserve the safty in Afganistan, but we cant abandon Iraq (we'd lost safty controll there).
The biggest problem of all is the terror in Isreal. It seems almost every month of the year it's people all victim to a terror attack.
There so much more too. The war on terror will be 10x bigger and longer lasting then the cold war (war on communism)
