Youths && Sex
So it's 1:30 am and I'm sprawled across my bed, legs entwined behind my back and my fingers tapping feverently against the keys, trying to find any excuse to get this issue out of my mind. It's been nagging at me for a few days : etching away at my mind.
Sex is a heated topic [no pun intended]. But really, what's the big deal with it? It's just sex. That's all, it's just sex. But like... that stupid 3 lettered word is the cause of so much controversy. Why do people fret so much about it?
I'm being genine when I ask this question - mostly because I don't uderstand why some people agree with it - but anyway, here it is:Should teenagers not have sex until they reach the legal age?
[legal age being 14, 16, 18, it depends on where you live, there obviously are other age ranges]
I see no problem in teenagers having sex before the legal age, as long as they practice safe sex. Of course, I do believe that teens should also wait until their bodies are ready for it.
But I'd just like to know why you, as a community on this website, would agree that teenagers should wait until the legal age declared by the officials.
And I'd like to know why you don't think teenagers should wait until the legal age. [I'm with this group, whoever you are]

i believe in waiting until marriage because i'm religious, but even if i wasn't i think people should wait until they're an adult and can therefore handle adult consequences.

I agree with Mareh.
kids are trying to grow up way too fast. And then they get a certain age and realize how stupid they actually were. Enjoy your childhood while you can. it's the shortest part of your life.
and to those of you that are like 'it's none of my business' she didn't specify who she was talking about. this is supposed to speak to you, not people you know. and it is too your goddamn business. What you do now effects your future no matter what you think. If you do have sex at a young age, and breakup with the person, then someday find the person you want to spend forever with, you're going to be all "wow, I wish I would've at least saved something special for this person" and you're going to feel stupid and basically worthless.

It all depends on how one interprets sex. I was taught that sex was a spiritual thing you go through with another person you care deeply about, and having sex is really just those two people becoming one.
So, as far as teens are concerned, I guess it all depends on why they decide to have sex. I doubt they do it because of that "spiritual togetherness". Overall, it's someone's choice wether they want to share their bodies with another person.
So yeah. That's what I have to say.

Should wait.
They aren't smart/capable/patient enough to properly practice safe secks and n matter what you think there's a level of emotional maturity that isn't reached until later on. Doing it to early is an easy way to screw yourself up emotionally.
I personally think you shouldnt have sex until you would be willing to seriously consider marriage, not for religious reasons or anything, but just because it's an indicator of maturity. Idk.

Whatever you do in bed isn't anyone else's problem, as long as you're safe and you keep it to yourself.

I find teenagers having sex to be just sad really...I mean you're a kid, enjoy being a f*cking kid. Same with drinking and drugs and everything. Be a kid, sleep in late, do nothing all day, play games. Why the hell would you want to go out and have sex? If you ask me, it's just kids trying to grow up too quickly. I'm still a virgin and I'm turning 18 in less than two months. I've met the girl I'm going to spend the rest of my life with, and she's going to be the only one I'm going to sleep with. That's how sex should be treated, to be done with people who you intend on being with forever

who cares anymore ?
i don't think anyone obeys the laws . kids are getting knocked up at thirteen .
i'm gonna wait until i'm ready though .

If you're ready for sex, you're not pressured into it and you're 100% safe, I see no problem.
As long as it's for all the right reasons, why should it be anyone elses business?

Well I think the controversy stems from the problems that result in underage sex such as teenage pregnancy, STD's, and such.
I think it doesn't really matter what age as long as the individuals are at both a physical and mental maturity where they can handle any consequences that may result from sex. I don't think there should be a legal age because it seems that in this day and age teens are determined to break the laws to be taboo and whatnot...so in some ways laws are just asking to be broken

I personally don't think anyone should have sex until they're ready for the possibility of children. Sex is for baby-makin. Don't throw that, "it feels good" stuff at me, a limited pleasure for long-term effects. You can get an STD and/or pregnant. Then they think it'll be fine if they kill the baby which makes no sense to me.
But back on topic; teenagers are having sex way too early now-a-days. That's why there's an STD epidemic going on.
Do you know the average amount of time teenagers stay together after sex? three weeks. I did not make that up, it's true. Some are doing it because they think everyone is doing it. Some because they think their boyfriend or girlfriend would leave them if they didn't. Some just because they want to feel good for awhile.
My point is, most teenagers aren't even ready until they're at the very least 18. (Personally, I don't think anyone should until they've made a commitment, but being that the world's not going to be that way; at least wait until you're 18 and a little responsible kiddies.)
