Alcohol,drugs and Sex
This is a little blog just going through my thoughts on a few controversial subjects that most people don’t approve of on GSB.
First topic is drugs..
They are illegal yeah. They are made of chemicals that virtually make you a zombie when your addicted, I should know it does happen like that. But recently there are introductions into schools testing their students for drugs. Personally this isn’t a good idea, I mean nobody has the right to invade anyone else’s privacy whether they are using drugs. It’s the twenty first centaury and most teenagers are in the experimental stages with pot and a few eccies here and there. I don’t think soft drugs are really the issue for kids who want to experiment, why go after kids who are curious about another way of life be persecuted for an experiment, I mean it’s not crack cocaine.
I can’t say anything about it being a gateway drug cos I did move onto the harder drugs, but I’ve got lots of friends who have been smoking weed for over twelve years and in a way smoking pot relieves stress and can be used for medical problems such as severe arthritis. Weed isn’t as bad as people make out, especially if it’s good quality and isn’t mixed with paint particles and dust. It’s that side of pot that people should worry about, the quality. Not the usage.
The second topic is Alcohol
The limit to buying alcohol here has risen from eighteen to twenty one. Raising the age isn’t going to do a damn thing about underage drinking it’s only going to make kids more and more rebellious because it’s something people say that can’t do. The health minister is worried about the long term effects of alcohol abuse, constantly binging when they are legal. But maybe if teenagers who wished to experiment with alcohol drank alcohol in a safe environment they wouldn’t be so constrained. I know people who never touched a single drop of alcohol until they were legal, now they crave it because they were literally told the bad stories of it. Everyone is worried about how much alcohol damages your liver and rots the lining of your stomach but guess what, those people who force the age rises are often worse themselves and doing the latest sudden movement to look good.
The third topic is sex. Underage sex.
I don’t see what the big deal is. I mean your old enough to know about it, your also old enough to know what you want so what’s the problem? Probably boasting about it. But get this, boasting about having sex is like boasting about what you got for Christmas. Your proud of it and you want everyone to know that you’re an adult. Everyone deep down sort of feels like “ so that’s what it’s like, I’m an adult now. I’m mature” even if it is under sixteen. But it’s also psychological because as a kid your constantly told who to be and what to do, I think it’s a way for a kid to control what they can. Their sex life.
Hope you guys read the damn thing properly before staring an argument.
Peace Out

i'm not gonna pick a fight with you but i don't agree.
then again i haven't done any of them and i'm at 17.

drugs; drugs are bad. everyone knows that and it goes without saying. banning drugs, making them illegal, is not going to make a difference. and I agree; pot is not at all as bad as people make it out to be. guess whats worse..? cigarettes. and those things are legal. pot just makes you do stupid things, but very rarely causes injuries or anything of that matter. its not always a gateway drug, and no one has the right to say it is. also, it is un-american and against human rights to test someone for drugs, unless you have suspicions. if that was going on in my school, i'd kick and scream.
alcohol is poison. its the most horrible substance for your body. if people know the fact, of how its going to hurt them, how it could end in really bad stuff, and they still intend on chugging down a bottle of vodka everynight...then thats their choice. its addictive, i would know. but if you have the power to control it, and drink it in a way that it does not cause as much bodily harm as it could, then you're doing the right thing.
maturity does not come with age, it comes with experience. if a fourteen year old thinks that they are ready to unbutton their pants...then they can go ahead. i believe that every teen should be warned about the dangers, but also brought the information of protection. "just say no" does not work, and will never work. i just hope that everyone, no matter if they are 20, 67, or 13, will do it with someone that means something to them. but in the end, its their choice. just think twice before you might put a baby in this world.

I completely agree...your teenage years are the experimental years and kids should be able to experiment and make mistakes, otherwise they don't learn anything.
Also, with alcohol, in the US the drinking age is 21 and you're right raising the age does nothing...kids will still continue to gain access to alcohol regardless of age. I think it's best if there's no age, because then it's less of a taboo to drink, and therefore has less appeal.
The same goes for underage sex...if it's a taboo, it's more likely to occur. I think it's best if kids are taught about sex and practicing safe sex...because when it's just ignored, that's when problems like STI's and teenage pregnancy is likely to happen

You're smart. I agree with you, I've been smoking pot after school since I was 12 with friends - it helps my juvenile arthritis which usually acts up after strenuous sh*t on my joints, like 6 hours or so of writing, and it keeps me relaxed so I don't go jump off the crosstown bridge into the river below. My school is too bloody poor to try drug testing, and for the record they don't give a damn as long as we show up.
I only drink in the comfort of my best pal's bedroom. We drink until we're ready to throw up our insides, then sleep it off for the rest of the weekend.
I think part of the sex thing is biological, according to my genius teach, the reason some people are so obsessed with sex is the primitive part in everybody's brain that still drives them to reproduce. If I ever find somebody I'm willing to have sex with before I hit 18, I'd do it.
D: Holy crap, I thought peace was in.

Hahahah I'm not going to start an argument.
I kind of have the same feelings about drugs and alcohol. Actually, since neither of those things are particularly taboo in my home I don't feel like I need to go out and drink and get high and experience it. Because I don't think its anything that special or rebellious or cool. I mean, there's plenty of drugs I'm waaaay to afraid to go near and I'm sure everyone would agree that it shouldn't all be experimented with, but because of the attitude I was raised around I don't think smoking pot is such a horrible thing.
I hate drinking personally, I just don't like alcohol, but when you can control in a safe environment there's really not a big problem.
But you know, not everybody can control it and then that turns into a horror story and thats why its such a grey area. Its alright sometimes but destructive another.
And as far as age goes I think the younger you are the more likely you are to have trouble applying moderation. I'm not saying this goes for every last person, I'm just saying its more likely.
And you have my reply about the sex thing.

Well I never said it was a phase for everyone .
That's just how I see it.

From what I am aware of, In the majority of places, the parents consent is needed for any sort of testing to be carried out. And while this may be an invasion of privacy, I think it's done with good intentions.I don't think children who have nothing to hide should worry about it. While weed isn't as dangerous as other drugs available today, it can still do damage - don't forget that. I don't believe in experimentation. I don't believe when people say that experimenting is a part of growing up - it isn't. I know plenty of people who have never touched drugs and have developed happily. The problem with weed is that you're never guaranteed good quality sales.
NEVER!
You're not told as a child who you are to be and what you're to do. As a child, you are shown which is the correct way e.g Don't hit that boy. Do pick up your toys.
As a child care worker, I can confirm that childcare methods ensure that children are never forced to be who they are not, rather we encourage them to develop at their rate, in their way and to explore their surroundings in a safe manner ie. Don't do weed, it's not good for you unless prescribed for medical reasons.
I don't think it's psychological at all. Child psychology is very different and complicated. I think that boasting about sex and wanting it sooo much is a phase. I went through it. I wanted it, I needed it, I had to have it! I didn't get it, I got over. I understand what you're tyring to say about it, but I don't think it's pschological.
Dr.Hymen, January 16th, 2009 at 02:35:30pm
hah. im not gonna start an arguement. :)
i dont know much about drugs and alcohol cause i dont do them. but i think pot would be pretty much the same as alcohol. probably even more harmless so i dont rly get why is it illegal and alcohol's not.
i've never had sex either so idk but different people mature at different ages. i dont rly get the boasting though. it's not a damn race . telling everyone about it makes you just look sl*tty.
