No, im from Blackburn actually ...you know it? (what made you think i was chinese/japanese?)
 Yeah I know it.
Well in History, we learnt that all the Japanese and so on were all taught to NEVER give in, they would fight to the very last man. And you said before that you were taught never to give in. So... |

Ah, i understand where you're coming from. The Japanese leadership never disguised its revulsion to the idea of surrender in WW2. It repeatedly made clear its intention to fight to the last man, woman and child.
Well, i'm sorry to dissapoint you, but i'm about as 'Northern' as you can get |

Age: 39 Gender: Female Posts: 11507 | November 9th, 2005 at 10:25pm bloodraine:Well, if your really going to be awkward and not accept that some people do commit suicide for pretty trivial reasons, and they dothrow their lives away then fine. And i don't consider this dicsussion pointless, i find the fact that we're both arguing over it without compromise pointless. So i'm going to say, that you do have a point, some people want to die and there isn't anyting i can do about it, but i still think they're giving up, and nothing will change that.
I respect your opinion, and i can understand why you're saying what you say, but i don't agree with most of it.
And finally. You say 'Death is a Gift'. Well, im sure thats not what the parents of the five year old girl who got knocked down near my house today would tell you.
Well, whether those parents like it or not - it's not their gift, but their daughter's. Like if their 16-year old got a really good car that they think he's too young to have.
Death makes us appreciate life, and gives us a way out if we need it. As for those who you think are throwing away their life. Neither of us would know that - because we can't see what's in their heart. Maybe they are doing the right thing and to everyone around it seems like they're giving up for no reason. And there's nothing awkward about not accpeting your opinion because it is limited with your knowledge on those people.
If I killed myself this noon, for most people it would look like a young talented girl threw away her life, and she had so much ahead. Only a few people would know that I'd do a self-righteous and in a way a right thing. It's sad, but it's true. No one knows what's in the heart of people who commit suicide, and if they went that far - it's not trivial.
After all, commiting suicide is not easy - I mean to find a way to do it. So people don't just go cutting their heads off for no reason.
And if you really stand on those "thrown away" lives...Damn it, it's their lives, they have a right to throw them away, and it's none of our business. And you can preach as much as you want that they'd have years ahead that would make them realize that life is great, things would change, blah-blah-blah... It's their decision, right or wrong - it's none of our business.
If a girl marries a "wrong guy" and fucks up her life with that - it's her decision and we have no right to judge. So let it go. People make decision, and your unbearable desire to prove them wrong seems weird to me. You have your own life, don't judge others.

Can you please find the quote where i was 'preaching' about people having years left, because i can't seem to remember saying it. . And yes, i do stand on those 'thown away lives', and that isn't going to change.
QuoteSo let it go. People make decision, and your unbearable desire to prove them wrong seems weird to me. You have your own life, don't judge others.
I would take care to note here that you have very selectively *ahem* edited my post. Now, convieniently, you have missed out the points that i made where i accepted that if, i quote;
QuoteBut, yes, i do understand. And ultimately, if a person wants to throw their life away, and fully understands the concequences then fine. They can give up and go quietly
And if you find my 'unberable desire to prove people wrong' 'weird', then i could say the same of you. But i wont. Because i respect your opinion. . I don't agree with it, certainly. But i respect it. So i would ask that you do the same for me. And there is no way on this earth that i can prove anyone wrong, and im not willing to try, but goodness me, we are allowed opinions now, aren't we? It sounds as if you are running out of ammunition, when you have to resort to personally insulting me. That is all. |

No but seriously, I always seem to be doing what other people want me to do, whether it be friends or family. I know that might seem stupid to some of you. I'm going to start thinking of myself a lot more. It's my life. Let's face it, how can I make someone else happy, if I'm not happy myself. |

What you're quoting is a piece of your conversation with Just Like As If (sorry, don't know the name). I did not quote that discussion. In fact, I think it happened while I was writing the reply. I quoted the whole thing that you said, and now for lack of a better argument you're accusing me of something I never did! Now which one of us is running out of ammunition?

Yup! (I know we're going way off topic here, sorry). A lot of us do what others want us to. That's how I ended up in the University that my parents wanted me to go to, that's how I never got a music education because all of my relatives thought it's stupid. And so on. We should really teach ourselves to live our lives how we want to. If we always do what others want us to, in the end everyone is miserable. |

Now, if you had read/quoted my post which was in reply to Just As If, we wouldnt still be discussing this...i made my thoughts pretty clear there. So i dont think there is any need for further comment, unless you would like me to continue. Again, please can you refrain from insulting me. I find it offensive.
