Well, of course, your emotional state could be in some way affected by your race, nationality or religious beliefs...Say, if there is a nation that is a victim of genocide then probably most people of this nation will be unhappy because they are terrorised and live in fear of getting killed, so one could say most of them are unhappy people. But it's not because of what nation they belong to, it's because of the circumstances. |

the only real risk genetically for depression/manic depression/schizophrenia/etc. is if your parents have it then you might develop it but it's a recesive gene

Well, if you were born in Iraq and moved to the US and consider yourself American - you'd be American. You feel American, you're patriotic about the US... But people around you would keep saying "You're Iraqi! You'll always be Iraqi! You'll never be American!" Most likely sooner or later that will trigger some emotional problems. Of course, it's all only circumstances, but still. |

Well, you're just lucky. Trust me it happens. Even in the deep blue state that I'm from. You might not notice it because it's not your issue, but for those who have this problem - it's always there. More than you know or think |

That's a very one sided way of seeing it. Some people get dragged through shit and would prefer to just die than to have to face it all that again. |

But what if...
One got abused all their life and still do by their parents? Then they get verbally abused by siblings..
I heard from a girl who got raped by her sister's friend..
What if.. One was constantly being used for respect and money to the family?
What if.. One would never be accepted by everyone around them?
Things like these do happen. Now, if someone in situations like those commited suicide.. would you reconsider your opinion? |

When someone has alot of emotional stress weighing them down, cutting make them take their mind off their emotional pain.. and concentrate on the physical pain. Some say it's like.. a relief.. I heard it's addictive too.. |

ThexxAmericanxxIdiot Shoot Me, I'm A Newbie
 Age: - Gender: - Posts: 4 | January 31st, 2006 at 05:05pm I still cut. It's just... a bad habit. A really bad habit.
I remember the first time I ever used a razor against my skin. It was after my parents split up for the first time. I've been doing it ever since. Now, I'm not cutting because of something that's happened, or because of stress or whatever. It's because I just can't stop, no matter how hard I try.
I've attempted suicide before, yet didn't succeed. My mom put me in therapy, and it has helped me alot. I've figured out that just because I have a few problems, I don't need to kill myself. Oh, and my mother yelled at me about how good I have it where I live. xD
My friend, whom I love to death, continuously attempts suicide. I hate leaving her after school, because I'm afraid of what she does to herself at home. I'm afraid of getting a phone call telling me that she's died or something. That's sorta why I stopped attempting; I'd never want anyone I know to ever have to be the person to get that call. |
