Most of the time it DID make me feel better, but half of time I only felt worse. The start of the whole thing was around February 2005. I mostly cut my right arm, for I'm left handed and under the long sleeves, no one even noticed. My mother, though noticed my mood swings. I got easily agitated and would cry easily. That certain period of my life was no joke. The thing is, I didn't really try that bad to hide my condition. My mother wanted to put me on medication appropriate for my age and send me to a psychologist. As time went by, spring and summer time came and I was forced to wear short sleeves. By that time, everyone at school started calling me a freak and my mother had hid every sharp object in a drawer, lock it and take the key with her every time she would go to work. Also as time went by, I began to think more about my life, about different situations and about the future. I had realized I was turning into a more mature person and that I simply had the power to control it. I think everyone can be rational enough to say no. I don't see why is it so hard. It just takes some time to realize. I honestly hope that all the trends nowadays aren't affecting the decision of young people to cut, or self harm in general. Trust me, the scars you leave behind won't be such a great sight when the years go by. Mmhmm, I just put all my pieces of glass and all that junk in a box and put the box in a shelf. And if I feel like hurting myself again, I just tell myself that i'm too lazy to get the box and that it would be stupid to start the whole thing again. Also, I've found alot of websites really helpful. So I'm proud of myself. Haha. |

If you don't mind me asking... what made you want to cut?
You don't have to answer it if you don't wanna... I'm just curious. |

 | March 13th, 2006 at 05:56pm Tre made me do it....:I cut myself, and I've tried to commit suicide a lot of times... I don't think that it's bad. The cutting helps me get through my hard times and I know not to cut too deep, so, it's not really harmful. I personally dont' think that it's wrong for someone to commit suicide, it's you life... you live it for you and not for anyone else, if someone thinks that they should die, then that's what they think. I don't understand why everyone makes such a big deal of it, when people cut themselves. yeah, depression...
i cut and i tried suicide a few months ago.

that is the same with me, but no one i know died. i was just going through a period in my life when i felt that everyone hated me. i had no [close]friends at school, my parents were always fighting and i was simply being neglected all the time. my stepdad noticed and he told my mom. she freaked on me which made me even worse. she was scared for me and i know that now. everything is much better and sometimes i felt the urge to cut again, but as the time went on i could control myself more. i know some people say i did it for the attention but which is totally untrue, something about inducing self-harm just makes all the pain go away. it was the worst in the summer, when its too hot to be wearing sweaters inside and outside. im glad that my stepdad caught me when he did, who knew what i wouldve done....that was in the past though, i am a different person now and i am proud to have over come that terrible period in my life |

Age: - Gender: - Posts: 723 | March 14th, 2006 at 11:47am Hmm..about a year ago I thought about cutting...I did it like; once. Then I thought to myself 'this isn't going to resolve anything for me' and all I got was pain. I talked to someone instead, it made it alot easier and they were so caring..I don't even think they know they did it. They just made me alot happier about myself, and still continue to do so. |

they should for it's their life
but many people do it for silly reasons and that isn't right.
self harm is something many people do they may feel it is right or enjoy it. But it is their body and they can do as they wish.
im no saying any of this is a good thing
and go ahead a kill yourself.
But for anyone thinking of doing this really think.

Many people do it because they are genuinely depressed, upset, grieving...you can't just generalize.
You still haven't explained your fun comment...that was the bit which upset me. I didn't particularly understand the bolded part, either. |

| March 14th, 2006 at 02:35pm One of my best friends cut herself once because she was getting really badly bullied at school becuase of her weight. It's not a nice thing - and she really regretted doing it afterwards and everything - I think suicide is a weakness and it's the easy way out - I know I don't really have the right to say that because obviously I don't know what other people are thinking when they do it (as I've never done it myself) but my friend who did it then found out that she could pull through it, and was really glad she didn't end up bleeding too much. |

Then you of all people should know how much damage suicide and self harm can cause. Saying 'its fun' was a rather silly thing to do, now. People on this very thread have experienced suicide and self harm on a very personal level and comments like that will upset them. |
