crimson_rose_91 Jackass Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 1110	January 15th, 2007 at 02:12pm be_insomniac: most people pretend to be depressed to fit the "goth/punk/emo" sterotype..... I agree that some people might think that being goth/punk/emo is cool and that self-harm/obsession with death is cool. But I very much doubt that anybody would actually self-harm for very long if their only aim was to be cool. It seems that "some" (not all) of the people on here are quick enough to say that other people are only self-harming to fit in, look cool or get attention but then go on to say how depressed they are?! How about giving people support and not making them feel even worse?! Although I do believe some people self harm to gain attention I don;t think that they are just pathetic attention seekers. There is obviously some reason that they are feeling upset/lonely and can find no better way of seeking help than harming themselves.
lishaaaaa Geek Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 335	January 15th, 2007 at 09:38pm when i was younger, i wore what eveyone else was wearing and did what eveyone else did to make them happy, but it was putting a lot of pressure on me and i was getting depressed... when i started being myself and figured out who my real friends were, i got a lot happier and i havent cut in months! ^.^
spill_no_sick Falling In Love With The Board Age: 31 Gender: - Posts: 8588	January 16th, 2007 at 04:12pm lol, this whole place is either "I do it, I did it, sympathy please, congradulate me" or "well, if we can stereotype them and put the solution is a pretty glittering generality sentence then our work is well done and everyone who does it after our profound explanation is just plain selfish or helpless" we should seperate it into a support thread and an explanation thread because I don't want to try and make a point by saying ,"well, I used to do it all the time, now I've gotten back into and my reasons are much different every time" and get people's sympathy when it was just a point I was trying to make

Those questions are answerable btw. Is it painful? yes, How would everyone react? they'll be incredibly upset.

Getting stabbed, shot, strangled will of course will hurt. I've also attempted suicide when I had bipolar but everyone you know would be sad, most people are when someone they know has died.

My fear is like someone I know commiting suicide because once I kinda knew someone who did and I was a freakin' mess, ended up with manic depression and it was so so horrible. I didn't really know him but I think I got affected the worst and then I had to start a new school and arghhh such a horrible time, it affects people who you don't think it'll affect that's for sure.

The Kill Falling In Love With The Board Age: 34 Gender: Female Posts: 8449	January 25th, 2007 at 07:45pm I had been cutting/burning for about 2 and a half years... and I've attempted suicide about four times .__. I'm not proud of that... but I haven't attempted since August though and I'm getting better now =] So... that's good... People that do it just need to seek help, or if they don't want it, others may need to do it for them...
