What do cell phones have to do with maturity and growing up at all?

zomg I can push buttons, Im a big girl now!!!

I think you're right though, it makes them feel more independant or something. In reality however, it doesnt effect your maturity.

I do. But I don't want to grow up too fast. Right now I'm running around psycho with my friends, having food fights, all that kind of stuff. But when those girls do grow up, they'll want to be younger.

Who wouldn't? When you're younger you can do whatever you want, and people will blame your parents!!! Cool

lol. Kidding =]

It's not just girls that are growing up too fast.
Just kids in general.
Bloody peer pressure. My friend's two step sisters have cellphones. One is 10 and the other one is seven.
It's just Wtf? who would they even call?

Also, there are hardly any good female celebrity role models.
Young girls are seeing Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie being freakin anorexic party animals with no jobs.
Meh.
Rant finished. Woo!

I don't want to grow up. It scares me...

PLease explain to me what a cell phone has to do with growing up.

And you say they don't have jobs? Nicole Richie is a model and a musician and Paris Hilton is a writter among other things. Anorexia is an eating disorder, and it would be appreciated if you wouldnt demean the people who suffer from it.

Girls are growing up way to quickly. It's shocking. But, we can't really blame anyone but our selves. I mean, look at the "role models" they have. Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton etc... What kind of example are they? Not very good ones.
It's the media that's making them grow up so quickly. Ad's with super-skinny models, posing for their favourite products. Makes them want to be like that, even if they are only seven.

Sorry. I just don't think they're very good role models for young girls.
Nicole Richie is a musician? Huh. You learn something new every day.

you ever heard of her dad...lionel richie? the musician? =P

and the girls growing up too fast thing, i dunno, in a way they seem to want to appear more mature looking, but on the inside, they're still very immature.

and to the person who mentioned 13 year olds doing drugs and drinking, that's just to fit in i suppose. though by influence either from friends and even family members the kids can start this stuff at an earlier age.

Bunny Rabbit [fromxhell]:
I hate it when I see girls about 10 years old, strutting around with their handbags and their mini skirts and their boob tubes. First: They don't have anything to hold those boob tubes up, second: Their legs have no shape, the point in wearing mini skirts? Third: What do they carry in that bag? My parents didn't trust me with money at that time, nor did I have a phone.

I'm 12, I have a phone, but it's only a hand-me-down from my Dad. I love it... =]

Then, you see like 11 year olds going out with their 11 year old boyfriends and they're like "I love you" "No, I love you more"

I mean... What the fuck? How can they know what real love is? They're 12! I don't know what it is!

Oh, and when I was ten... I was still playing with stuffed toys and Barbies!

I still play with stuffed toys.. xD

GOT TO LOVE THOSE BARBIES!!!!!, i drove one off a cliff when i was 12, saying that it sucked, and the problem in that is that it was connected to my remote control car i never really thought it would break it....dumb blonde....

Not really. Some things push them to stop eating, like thinking that they are fat, others telling them they are fat. People who decide to stop eating aren't exactly in the best state of mind.

I always used to try to act much older - I don't bother now. I always obsessed with my weight.

A close friend of mine said to me 'you're how women are supposed to be. Curvy in all the right places.' He gave me so much self confidence.

But yeah, girls are in far too much of a rush to grow up. Enjoy your childhood. I know I wasn't.

I feel kinda old although I’m just 18 (ok, so my birthday is not until June 5 but still =P). When I was I kid everybody was dressed in clothes they could play in. Some girls (two, max) started caring very much about how they looked when we were 11. But they “only” wore make-up and tight pants. Nothing very slutty. Around here the girls got sorta slutty first when they were 13-14 (and that’s still young).

I feel like I didn’t miss out on my childhood. I wore comfy clothes until I was 12 and then I wore sorta baggy jeans and regular t-shirts and tank tops. I hated skirts and dresses. Laughing It was just impossible to play when wearing a skirt. Now days I do sometimes wear things that can be considered “sexy” but I don’t believe anyone would call the clothes I wear slutty.

It’s horrible that kids can’t be kids. Why the hell should an 11 year old girl try to be hot? It’s wrong and it’s frightening. Just imagine the amount of trouble they can get into. And how they accept to be treated as objects. I hate that. One of the few things I actually do hate. Girls aren’t objects, they’re human beings. Not toys!

All kids grow up too fast, both girls and boys. It’s a shame.
