Some of those kids magazines are a really bad influence. They say stuff like;
'How to be sexy!" Which is jsut plain weird for kids about 9 years old.
Even my younger sister calls me immature, but I guess that's just the way I am.
Another thing... Everyone blames places like Myspace for young girls getting raped or whatever, but if a 12 year old says she's 16 and posts slutty pictures of herself, then surely that's her own fault?

Secondly, what does any of that have to do with "growing up"? Do clothes determine your maturity? No, not in any way, shape or form. Girls, and boys(the sexism in this thread angers me alot) put way to much focus on that, when really it doesnt matter.
All in all, who do you think will grow up better? The person who graduated Valadictorian, or the person with the most expensive wardrobe. I think people who are so centered on Image are heading in the opposite direction, not growing up.

Actually, I am going to talk in a more mature way. Starting now. I think that these girls just want to be older. they are excited about it and young girls think that by acting as if they are older (wearing makeup, cell phones, wardrobe, ect) they will be liked better by people, from the opposite sex to the popular kids in school.

That doesnt mean they are, and truely, they arn't even doing that. make-up, cellphones, or your clothes don't make you older or grown up, and they certainly dont make you mature. I think by them being so centered and focused on that, it shows how far from growing up they are.

Feeling the need to seem more mature, this is not a new phenomenom, for example how many girls here wore their mothers lipstick and high heels, if i was allowed to wear them out of the house i would have, the blame for thiss 'growing' up belongs on the media and parents.

You're right. I mean I remember wanting to dress like britney spears when I was in junior high. I looked totally stupid though, looking back. I would wear my mother's makeup. I didn't need it, but I would but foundation all over my face. I didn't know what it was for, but I thought it would make me look better. (even though it made my face look orange because I didn't know what the hell I was doing!lol) I think that it is just a phase that pre-teens go through.
