Took me bout.........3 months. Well, I could probably still stand to learn loads more, but according to a couple of my friends and teachers and junk, I'm good. I've been playing for about 3 years, but I just got good because I started when I was like 7, but quit when I was ten, now I picked it up again. I usually play power chords, but occasionally I like to go old school with some barre chords and open chords.

Its a neverending process.. . you're constantly learning new things. There are so many things out in the world to learn. There's different riffs, and chords and styles of playing.

well... maybe he is but the green day songs are easy to play...

Yeah. Just cause he uses powerchords for green day doesn't mean it's all he knows how to play Confused

it's taken me about a year to get to the point where i can sit down with most pieces of music and roughly strum out the rthymn and tune if i practise for ages. I have noone to practise with so it takes me ages to get rythymn and stuff

i dont know... less than 6 months before i could just play green day/mxpx songs and stuff like that. and write my own songs.

not that i was good then or anything, but i knew how to play. now i've been playing for about 3 1/2 years, and i'm not great, but i've definatley improved.

I've been playing since December, and I know about ten chords by heart, and can read tabs, and know basics. So, I'm getting there, but it was really easy for me because I play three other insturments. Smile

I can play all the basic chords and power chords in the nine months I've started to learn, but I'm not all great. Personally, I think it's because guitar is my first instrument and I'm pretty much tone-deaf.
