My fav. songs are Blandest, Heartbreaker (Live) Lounge Act. and Floyd The Barber.

My momma heard About A Girl (Home Demo) and said "Kurt even sings like a druggie..."

Akward, because I never even thought my mom knew about Nirvana, let alone the people in the band...

I never never knew us "druggies" had a definitive sound Rolling Eyes
Thats my momma for ya...

Oh i fuckng love how he sings "Through" at the end. Wait till you watch it when I send it. He like makes his mouth all weird and stuff. Its just amusing. And he opens his eyes right before he sings it and you see those stunning piercing eyes of his.

You need to get all of Unplugged ASAP
Shocked

The song is amazing, but I've never seen the vid...
I have to save up to get Unplugged...

haha. Iget that too. I've actually ahd a NIrvana obsession phase for quite a while that I've probably officially realized that I like Nirvana's music better than Green Day.

I downloaded the vid somewhere. Its a big file but its fucking worth it and I can't find a site to upload a 600+ MB file

ok, i'm done quoting. but many people say he's an icon because nirvana had a sound that no one else did. their style of music was original when they first came out.

their style of 'grunge' music which happened in the 90's. but although grunge was somewhat popular with bands like nirvana and pearl jam, it obviously wasn't a good enough genre to win the ears of younger kids. the kids went to listen to backstreet boys and nsync during the 90's while grunge was born and died. kids these days have a lot of great music to listen to so that's why pop music isn't as popular anymore. i'm not dissing all grunge, but what nirvana started wasn't great.

you know, i don't think grunge officialy "died" and honestly i don't think it even officialy lived. The thing people don't seem to understand is that Nirvana didn't create grunge, they didn't even consider their music as grunge, they hated that label, it's just that before Nirvana, grunge was very underground and Nirvana brought it "overground"
there are still a few grunge bands today but they are not as trendy as they were in the 80's and 90's, a trend can die and it doesn't mean the music died

There was just a period of time when Grunge was big. Like now.. how Emo and Rap are big. That was what was big bakc then. They just happened to write music and got swept up and labled as grunge

Kurt hated his own music. He was always trying to make it sound louder and and harsher rougher. In a way its kinda sad. I mean he didn't want to just accept the fact that was the music he wrote. Yknow what I mena?

yeah, I see what you mean... and the sadest thing is all the "In Utero" production; he hired a "punk/hardcore" producer (Steve Albini) to make the album sound bad (well, not bad but worse than "Nevermind"Wink, his objective was a commercial-suicide but DGC refused to release the album that way so they remixed "Heart-shaped Box" and "All Apologies" (the two singles) so that people would think the album is as commercial as "Nevermind" and buy it. It worked, lots of people bought it.
I don't think he hated his music, he just liked it until people started to like it too

I think its kinda funny when people say they love Kurt's lyrics. I like some of them but half of them are contradicting.. but then I guess that's the beauty of it.

My fave Nirvana songs..

the cover of the Man Who Sold the World. That riff is fucking catchy. In Bloom, Old Age (any of you know that one it was one the CD thingy that came out this year or last year), All Apologies, Sliver, Lounge Act, On a Plain (Unplugged Version)

Yeah that's it. My top 3 are TMWSTW. In Bloom and Old Age. I learned how to play all 3 on my guitar. Cool As well as others

I love "Old Age", it sucks that they never released it on an official album...

I know! Old Age is amazing. I just learned how to play it on guitar lst week. Its really really really easy. I love how his voice gets all mumbly/moany/whiny during the chorus.

And did you hear about how Courtney tried it pass it off as her own? Rolling Eyes

And those two are one of the most popular singles. I myself love All Apologies. Its really fun to play. Heart Shaped box is okay. I jsut like the intro. Its a bit too slow for me. If that makes sense. Whihc is weird czu I'm basically contradicting myself becasue my favorite song off of the Unplugged Soundtrack is Oh Me which is probably one of the slowest of the show. But meh. I just love the solo and Kurt's relaly really deep voice in that song. I'm getting off topic here Laughing

Once, I was walking on the road with some friends, and an idiot had actually thrown out and beaten up the Unplugged album.

It hurt my heart.

Like hearing Fred Durst try to sing like Roger Daltrey, or ruining Bittersweet Symphony. I love that song.

I can kinda understand that. Its like how green day fans felt about AI or when they got signed to Reprise. Yknow? Nirvana doing a simple, sweet acoustic show is defnitely.... different. Especially .. its like Kurt just gave up and was like "You know what? This is our music. Let's just accept it" He did seem quite happy while he was doing that show. I think lol

yeah, I've heard about that... I love the stuff she did with Hole but sometimes she really acts like an asshole...
anyways, that song is amazing, when I heard it for the first time, I think I listened to it 5 times in a row! and I can play it too and you're right, it's really easy but so effective!

Like... my mate (who thinks I'm really stupid) said at a lesson in school (when we were talking about Buddha and nirvana etc) "Oh! Nirvana is a rockband!" (Like I didn't know...) and added "But a shitty one."

Duh. Love Nirvana.

I kinda agree with her. I always have a hard time deciding whether he was a dickhead or not.

He did at one point want to receive most of the money the band makes, not allowing Dave and Krist to make as much. He felt that because of the fact that he wrote the songs and sang and whatnot he should get more money. But where would he be without Krist's bass lines, and Dave's hard drumming. As well as their previous drummers.

I remember how when I frist got the With the Lights Out thing from somebody I listened to all of them and when I heard Old Age I fell in love with it immediately. I always ahve these little phases where I only listen to a song for many many days. I had that with Old Age.

Right now its Learn To Fly by the Foo Fighters. Rolling Eyes
