To be honest that's a bit disturbing.
But KayWay's right. I mean, how do you feel right doing that with someone when they're just telling you about menstruation? I mean...when I was 11, me and my friends went and told on someone because he kept saying "penis" to us.

It's cause kid these days are rushing to grow up.
They're all so knowledgeable right now but when they're older they'll regret it.
Heck, I regret most of the stuff I did when I was 12/13; I would swap all of that to have a proper childhood again.

Well, lets look into this a bit more in depth than a one word answer.
As meg said, the government can prosecute sexually based offenses. I doubt anyone is complaining about that. Then, you said you were ok with that. Well, in order for the government to do that, they obviously have to be allowed to regulate sex. Without a legal sex age, whats to keep a 30 year old man from making child pornography and exploiting innocent children? What makes it illegal to force people into having sex? All of the government regulations around sex are there for a reason.

This is my thinking on legal sex age.
many of the people who have posted in this thred have stated that 16 is the median age of consent, and that's all well and fine, but how old to you have to be to get an Abortion without parental Consent or get married with out parental consent( two things which more often then not are linked to having sex)?18.
Now I find this to be a MASSIVE controdiction. Why is it that at 16 you can say " yeah sure Johnny I can sleep you, and you can plant your 'seed' in me." And yet you can't do anything about it (like get married or have an Abortion) until your 18.
It's the same with everything else: at 16 you can drive a 3 ton vehicle, but you can't pick your leader, at 18 you can join the army, go over to Iraq and get your legs blown off or die, but you can't have beer or play poker before hand.
I think there should be is,after conducting vast amounts of research, consulting teens, watching trends ect, they should have one unifed age where everything is allowed-drinking smokeing, sex, marrage,enlistment,driving and gambleing and/or have anyone who wants to do those things (at ealier age), take some sort of test to prove that they have materity level to handle the situation.

I think kids that are younger than me that are having sex is ridiculous. unless, of course, they're raised in an INCREDIBLY unstable home, and for some reason, they think it's alright at that age. or unless, they've been raped, then that's not really their choice.
I mean, sure, I've thought about having sex a lot, but there's no way in hell I'm ready to do it.
I think sex is a responsibility, if you will, a big step in your life. and doing it at such a young and misunderstood age, which would be the preteen age and even the beginning years of teenhood is just unethical.

Maturity comes at different ages and that is sometimes reflected in one's sex life. Unfortunately idiocy is primarily reflected in the sex lives of really young kids. I find that the legal sex age isn't used in terms of sex itself as much as it is used in sex offender's cases.
