Pearl's the best in my opinion, Ludwig, Mapex, Orange County drums & Tama kits are good but they're expensive.

good starter kits are Yamaha, CB, DW... any cheap kit is a good starter.

Premier kits are pretty good value for money.

i cant read drum tabs but i understand then, like the letter beside the lines of tabs stand for a drum or cymbal, e.g
"s"=snare
"hh"-hi-hat
"bd"=bass drum.....and so on and so forth. And as for brands i'd say Pearl is probably the best, though my kit is a shitty Striker

Yea, pretty much what everyone else said. ^
Once you start getting better at drums, it'll be really easy to read tabs.

I think Zildjian just make cymbals and sticks (I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure). I use the Tre signature sticks too - I think he would've designed them partly- they are size 5Bs like Zildjians regular 5B sticks, only they're longer, feel very slightly chunkier.

As for reading drum tabs - just start off simple, like most things with drums - start off with the basics and build it up over time.

Some sites that have drum tabs also have audio samples so you can hear what the tab should sound like. You might find this helpful. www.drumbum. has links to lots of sites like this. Smile
