Yes, since around the time of AI.
When I was 12 or 13, I liked much softer stuff (loll idk, Avirl Lavigne, Amy Studt), and I hadn't really heard of them.
Then I started getting into other stuff (blink 182, QOTSA) I'm not sure if the first song I heard was actually AI, or it was good riddance, but I remember hearing the latter on my then very rare ventures on to Kerrang tv, and pooof. I think I knew who they were by then, and after hearing AI i was like 'ah, that's alright'
but good riddance made me go 'jesusssssssss' and buy dookie the next time i was in town, cause it was the first GD cd i saw in the shop.

I absolutely agree! I mean, I'm sure I listened to Green Day a little when I was a few years old - that doesn't mean I was a fan back then! I had no clue who they were when I was 5 or 6 - I just wanted my Britney Spears! |
