I've only ever seen him play the Armstrong once or twice so I don't really know but it's true, I never noticed him jumping with it either. |

Ha. I think they are better. As talented as Kurt was, Dave is great at everything. I mean I dunno. Nirvana is just huge and stuff and IMO I think they're a bit overrated but I love them no matter what. Basically Nirvana was a fucked up band from the start. THey blew up too quickly and I'm going to shut up. Whenever people mention Nirvana I have to go into long rants about them |

It's not that time consuming! All you do is click a button and it opens and then you leave it running for hours and days and then you're done and you burn it to a DVD. You can do other stuff while its on
I'll shut up now.

 | March 13th, 2007 at 10:35pm Check this out. CHECK THIS OUT. I am green with envy.
Today, in class, we had to present our religion projects and talk about five people we admire who we'd want to bring to a party. Naturally, the one out of the five I chose to talk about was Dave. So, after the presentations, this really cool dude talked to me about him. Get this.
Friend: Hey, my mom knows Dave Grohl.
Me: Really?! How?
Friend: She's a doctor, and he comes in every six months.
Me: That's so cool!
Friend: I met him.
Me: GET OUT.
He doesn't even like rock music all that much. And he got to meet him. Go figure. =/ Lucky bastard. |

The more I listen to concerts with it the more I hate it. It sounds shitty and tinny and i heard it weighs a fucking ton which explains why you never see him jump as often with that guitar as he does with the Xplorer or something. He probably thought it looked cool. I guess it is sorta cool cuz it's clear and stuff but why waste money on a heavy guitar that sounds shitty. Meh. I think too much. BED TIME FOR BOGIE. Yeah, my friend has a clear guitar. He saved his money to buy it and all and it sounds shitty and it's around 25 lbs. So he's getting a new one soon. |

I'm reasonably sure that Dave doesn't actually pay much if anything for any of his guitars. I know the Firebirds he plays right now were given to him by Gibson. His drums in the Nirvana days and probably still are given to him by Tama. Indirect endorsement deals if you will.
The Ampeg Dan Armstrong is a really cool looking guitar but it has a really specific purpose and limited range and personally for what I think Dave does his Firebirds sound the best. Actually I liked his RD Artist the best but he smashed it and lit it on fire in 2000. That was a bummer, i liked that guitar a lot.
the gibson trini lopez (red guitar, see the learn to fly video) was pretty good as well. |

Heh. I always have trouble comparing them. Of course Nirvana's overrated, they came along at just the right time and they happened to be pretty damn good anyway, so they got made into "THE BEST BAND IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD AND KURT COBAIN IS EVERYONE'S SAVIOR" which is just annoying. I don't think there's ever been a band who could live up to that, haha. I personally listen to more Foo, but...you have to say Nirvana has a more distinctive sound, because most semi-music educated people I know could identify a Nirvana song by hearing it even if they didn't know that, and a lot of people can't with the Foos...my dad and my guitar teacher say they get them mixed up with Audioslave Sooo, yeah, I guess I ranted for you, San Man. |

MEET HIM. THEN TELL US ALL ABOUT HIM.
So you're saying this woman is Dave's doctor? Oh my fucking god. If I were his doctor you'd have no idea what shit I would do to him Or maybe I'd save that for Taylor I guess I'd have to settle for Dave. *sighs*
UGH. That's so cool. I'm assuming it's not Dave's doctor, but his daughter. If it's every 6 months. |

In my opinion, I don't think dave cares for sound. He's a drummer first and I don't think he's got the ear for those specific differences in guitar. Although, hell if I notice that the Dan Armstrong sounds like shit, then maybe that must mean osmething . But I guess he liked it cuz it looked cool. I personally wouldn't like it at all. The onyl good thing is that it's clear
Bands are lucky in that way that they get sponsored or they're practically sponsoring instruments. It's sorta the way the music industry works. They get a guitar and then some fan will want the guitar because he saw Dave Grohl playing it so he wants to be like Dave Grohl.
I like the Xplorer best. A) It looks fucking cool B) It sounds great for those heavily distorted songs. I don't like the look of semihollow guitars but they're good for songs like Doll and See You.
Didn't he use the Firebird for Weenie Beenie back in the day? Maybe that's a different guitar I'm thinking of. |

Nirvana and Foo Fighters are two fucking completely different bands. Nothing sounds alike. Nirvana had that raw, grungy, unpolished sound where Foo have clean, produced sound. The drummers are extremely different, the guitarists are too and the bassists are as well. I don't think Krist was ever that good of a bassist. Nate's a great bassist, not the best but I heard that for OBO the producer had to tell Nate to tone it down because he was making stuff too complicated to play live. which is kinda a cool thought
Nirvana definitely has a distinct sound. Sure, they're unique, but they say that about every big band pretty much. Hence why I think they're a tad overrated. And Grunge is just a name that they stuck to the Seattle sound because they didn't even know what to call it because it was a sound that couldnt quite fit any category of music.
When I play guitar, I love playing Foo Fighter songs better. They're more fun and upbeat and just better. Nirvana songs are awesome, I mean my all time favorite song to play on geetar is All Apologies and it's good practice for playing notes and stuff. But meh, I have more fun and get more pumped up from playing Foo Fighter songs.

It's okay if people like Nirvana better. That's their taste but yeah I hate when they compare them too becuase they're so fucking different from eachtoher. They're completely different Genres.
I don't even know what Genre the Foo is. They're like all over the place. They make sonsg with different type of sounds. We've got Pop = Big Me.
Screamy= Weenie Beenie, Wattershed
Classic Rock- Ain't it the Life
Rock- DOA
those are jsut examples I can think of off the top of my head.
But yeah that's one reason why I love them so much, because they have such a widespread sound, which suits me because I have no really favoring of one particular genre. It reflects on the band too because you've got Dave who's into metal, Taylor who's into Classic Rock, Chris = Punk and I have no idea waht Nate-o's into |

I think the Foos have overall more talent than Nirvana, but ilke everyone else said, you can't say one's better than the other because it's completely different music.
And Nate's yet to speak about what kind of music he likes. |
