double post, sry. But I don't think Dave is a Who fan. He did list Altamont as a concert he'd have liked to attend, but on the whole he doesn't strike me as a Who type. Taylor, for sure, but Dave? not so much.

i had it...it was part of "the leftovers" i got of some torrent or another.

There's a strong similarity between a song on S/T and something else, and I can't remember for the life of me. I didn't notice until I heard the brixton bootleg and they dragged out the intro.

i'm kinda bummed how I miss you never made it onto an official album. they played it a lot on the first album tour and it's better than some stuff on TCATS.

I love How I Miss You! Oh yeah I had that Leftover thing too. That was like a fucking dream for a Foo collector. I remember uploading all the covers and posting them here for ANnie and Kristy to download lmfao.

i like OBO. My album preferences go as follows: S/T>TINLTL>OBO>TCATS>SB>IYH

the new album better be rock, and it better not suck like the IYH rock disc.

I hate monkey wrench. The only stuff I like off TCATS is Everlong, Hey Johnny Park, and New Way Home.

OBO is really underrated. if you think about it, it's one of thier most honest records- thrown together in two weeks in the infamous basement. TINLTL is kinda like that, but the more produced version.

I could listen to S/T all day. In fact, I do.

I wish dave would hole up somewhere and do another album like that, write a bunch of shit without the band, punky, fun stuff, and then tour it with the band.

BRING BACK THE PUNK ROCK!!!
Eh, 1x1's OK. My order would probably go:
TCATS, TINLTL, 1x1, S/T, IYH Acoustic, S&B, IYH Rock

I love Monkey Wrench and just about everything else on TCATS

I haven't really taken a liking to S/T yet, I dunno, it's just not really my taste.

No offence, when were the Foos punk?

I wish they'd do more complete covers. I wish they'd play Never Talking To You Again by Husker Du live, it's short enough for a song break. But for some reason they either only play part of a song, or they pick something bizarre.

I want them to do Soul Asylum's Somebody to Shove. Listen to it and think about how dave would sing it. It'd be killer.

S/T sounds pretty much exactly like a lot of 80's punk. The grunge era was kinda a twist on the 80s punk sound, and S/T is the grungiest of the albums. I hate to bring in the G word but it's the best way to characterize the time.

my personal opinion is that dave's masterpiece is Exhausted. THAT is a perfect song, right down to the fuzzed out guitars and low vocal mix.

if I had to pick something more recent, well I'd say his masterpeice is H,JP. But I still think Exhausted is it. Or How I miss you.

I loveeeee Exhausted. It's just jfdhgsldfjgs. Yummy.

Haha. Exhausted, Aurora and New Way Home are my 3 fave songs. I think Exhausted and Aurora are my top 2. Aurora is #1. Fizz

Ozone is my favorite cover. I think. I just love that little guitar thing they do in between the verses.. do do doooooooooooooo do do do dooooooooooooo where they pick the high e or b string. It's something.. pft.. it just sounds good. :-p

If anyone listens to the Who, has anyone noticed the similarity between Enough Space and Pictures of Lily? Dno Just curious. lmfao

Besides the fact that Dave mentions Lily in the song? I think I have that song.. I'll listen to thje two after the song I'm playing now is finished Fizz
Yeah, cause I mean they're both about getting a picture of Lily and putting it on your wall/celing and falling in love with her and blah blah blah. I dunno, just seems like he wanted to paraphrase Pictures of Lily in Enough Space or something.

I dunno if Dave is a Who fan Think I'm sure Taylor is but I get he feeling that Dave is a bit of a Who fan. I guess it is similar I like Enough Space better. The screaming is awesome Fizz
Yeah it is, it's not pointess IYH screaming, it's screaming with passion. tehe And I dunno if he is either.

TRue true. But this is Dave.. he said he had a Spice Girls song stuck in his head forever and he likes Scissor Sisters. You can't really predict his taste. He just likes music..period. And I admire his taste.

Yeah I love their covers. Some of them are so weird. Cheese My favorite is Tiny Dancer (I'm obessed with Almost Famous tehe)

Wait, by 80's punk do you mean hardcore punk or the more college radio 80's punk (Husker, Femmes, 'Mats)?

HAha I think dave said that he knows part of almost every song ever.
That's exactly how I am lmfao. I learn parts of songs and then just forget to do the rest or just don't get into it.

I would download Somebody To Shove but I don't have limewire Finger
I'm not into punk. I like the ocassional punk song but meh. The whole genre isn't for me. But annie and Kristy like that shit. S/T is their grungiest.. I'll agree with that but they still don't get near Grunge or punk really. S/T is sorta just a mix of everyting. Hell you've got Big Me there lmfao .That song is just outta there.

Well, actually, some of S/T sounds like hardcore punk, but the 90s alt scene was based more on the indie college punk (pixies, husker du, femmes, green river, etc.)

It's it's own sound, sure, but you can hear the punk rock influence way more on S/T than on IYH, put it that way.

I can upload somebody to shove for you, gimme a minute.

Yeah, you can hear an influence, but that's probably cause Dave was a punk drummer so he has that background, but I wouldn't concider it a punk album or Foo a punk band. I dunno.

Haha. Ugh. The problem with IYH is that he tried too hard. They really do their best when they're not trying. I mean hell, look at TINLTL. They had no studio it was in Dave's basement they practically lived together and had noone telling them what to do and it turned out to be their best album and also S/T too. most of the songs were just created throughout the years of Dave's time in Nirvana and just compiled to make a CD.

I'd prefer the next album to have more punk influence than IYH, let's put it that way. That was the closest thing to manufactured arena rock I've heard out of them yet.

here's somebody to shove:

Yeah, TINLTL is very laidback, that's what I like about it, it sounds like every song was really molded to pefection rather than just thrown together.

Great. Thanks Smile

ARgh. Does anyone happen to have Don't Come Around Here No More by Tom Petty. I heard it on VH1 Classic a few weeks ago and I forgot about it until today when another TP song came on The Tube and now I've got a craving for that TP song. It was by far probably the one of the most bizarre music videos ever.

I wouldn't categorize the Foo as Punk at all. But they really have no fucking label. You can't just label them. They have such a variety of songs.
That's the thing with S/T it goes from the far left to the far right. Big Me to Weene Beenie and Wattershed and you've got those other songs in the middle liek Good Grief and For All the Cows. Tha'ts what I think of when I listen to S/T just variety.
