I listened to hte Foo the whole ride back from Rochester which is about 5+ hours. It was pretty cool. Looking out the window at all the dead grass and hills and listening to Dave scream his balls off = FUN

I don't think I've ever listened to one band for 5 hours at a time. Even on that school day when I decided I'd listen to every single Green Day album in its entirety...wow, that was eighth grade...I commend you for your dedication. Or something.

I can only do it really with the Foo and Green Day. Nirvana there's too many songs that hurt my eyes with Kurt's goddammned screaming. Mostly the Foos becuase there are so many good songs Cheese

Kurt's screaming hurts your eyes? lmfao lmfao lmfao sorry dear. had to point that out.

Can someone upload the Yellow Leadbelly or whatever the fuck it is by PJ so I can understand why Annie loves it so much?

Yellow Ledbetter, sillyyyy. lmfao You might like it, it's mellow. If I knew how to upload things I'd do it for ya... Shifty

STFU. You're so narrowminded lmfao. You hear mellow and automatically think I'll like it Finger

how's that narrowminded? I just know what you like, that's all. tehe

and yes, Kristy, you do spy Sir Psycho Sexy. Retard and now I feel like a disloyal Clash fan for NOT listening to them all day on December 23. haha.

I have mixes I can listen to for that long, but I can't listen to one band for that long, it all starts to sound the same after awhile.

If I'm mixing a song, I can listen to it for a couple hours, tops, before the mix starts to sound like shit and I stop.

what I wouldn't give to have the original 8 track masters of the foos first album to mix. The thought of being able to bring up the vocals and mess with the levels and channels on 'exhausted' makes me feel giddy.

But I don't do mixes very often, so it's rare that I listen to a song for all that long.

I get musically bored pretty quickly- I have to really like an album to listen to the whole thing,

Duuude. I wanna mix songs! Cheese there've been a lot of times when I've listened to something and thought it would sound better if the vocals weren't buried under the drums or whatever...eeh.

THat's because you are a disloyal Clash fan bitch. Bad dog Finger

I like mellow stuff.... to an extent and I also like loud stuff so STFU I don't think you can categorize the Foo or Nirvana or Green Day as mellow Finger

Well, it requires some tools, and digital masters...lol. It's not really possible to mix a song that's been already compressed down to make CDs or whatnot...

basically what happens is the original masters get made on tracks- a couple guitar tracks, a drum track or two, two or so bass tracks, and the myriad of vocal tracks. in the final mix, these tracks get combined in different levels and pieced together in different ways, then any effects are added, and then when it goes to mastering they compress it down into two stereo channels. You can't go backwards once it's compressed unless you lift the vocals right off the top (which never sounds very good) and replace all the rest of the stuff with something else.

Without the masters, you can't do much. But mixing isn't THAT hard, it's more of a puzzle than anything else.

Am I gonna be a big time producer? no way. I do it for fun, friend's stuff. I'm way too perfectionistic to actually ever even think about doing it, plus I have zero musical talent. I happened to have the software because a cousin of mine is a recording artist, but otherwise...no musical inclination at all lol.

That's so fucking cool. I want to do stuff liek that maybe sound producing or engineering or smoething when I'm in college. I'd rather do something where I get to travel and be surrounded by music. Maybe Tour manager or something or band photographer! that would be cool haha. I'm just dreaming aloud

mmm photography is sort of my secret love. I come from a family of photographers.

Band photography would be sick, but it's a tough life, I'd prefer to do band portrait work. Live shows are fun to shoot from close up, but portraits are where you really get to see a band's personality and create an image. Pictures of people screaming their balls off are fun too, though.

Portraiture is my specialty- I love to shoot people. The best photos come from shooting rolls and rolls of film, and the last shot, when nobody's paying attention, is always the best one. I love that.

I don't think I could be a band photograher. I used to LOVE taking pictures I lost interest in it when I went to high school. But my ex and I shared a secret love of photography when we were in Middle school. I'm all for taking pictures of nature. Flowers and trees and sunsets.

I just need a job where I'm surrouned by music. It'd be great to be in a famous band.. but meh... I doubt it'll happen unless some miracle occurs

my ex was really into nature photography. I preferred to shoot architecture, and people. I think the Stephen Sweet photos where he posed Nirvana on a NYC street in front of a sign that read "men don't protect you anymore" were genius. I want to do stuff like that.

lmfao lmfao. I just looked at the lyrics for Weenie Beenie for the first time in forever. It's one of the few Foo songs that I have no idea what the fuck the lyrics are in the song.

lmfao. It makes no fucking sense. I don't think this is 100% correct but it's got most of it.

I'm molasses hung in rent

big shit no shit
tear it off, but not a lot, only so much you can take
