Ah okay so about the whole thing.
Yes I hate to say it but I definitely think the whole fact that Dave was in Nirvana plays an important and major role in the Foo. It definitely brings more fans.

However, people NEED to stop comparing the Foo to Nirvana. Yes Dave Fucking Grohl was in Nirvana... but he wasn't even in the band the whole "Nirvana" career. There were previous drummers, Dave just happened to fit in and be there at the right time.

People who were into Nirvana will find out that Dave's the lead singer of the Foo and tehy'll be curious to see how he sounds and so forth for the opposite way too. Dave is kind of a bridge between the two bands. Bandwise not musicallywise (if that makes sense)

Dave is much more talented than Kurt. Kurt's a much more talented lyrical writer than Dave. Obviously we know half of Dave's lyrics make no fucking sense because he doesn't put as much effort into lyrics as he does riffs and guitar and drum and bass parts. Kurt could write good lyrics and he could sing pretty damn well. I loved Kurt's screaming the moment I got into Nirvana, it took me a while to get used to Dave's singing.

I remember I was telling Annie when I first got into them that I wasn't crazy about Dave's voice and it was only pretty recently that I acutally started thinking it wasn't half that bad.

Yes when Kurt died, I think it brought more attention to him then when he was alive. He had attention but I personally think he got more attention, the fact that he was an asshole and stirred up a lot of controversy when he was alive also brought attention to the band and himself. But I think that Dave and Krist and Courtney Love were definitely greatly affected by his death because fans and people flew to them. Dave is always going to known as the "drummer from Nirvana." Its just a given.

Oh and about the projects Dave's been in, I'm not sure if that's a matter of talent or just a matter of kindness and the fact that he's so outgoing and just has an intense love for music. I think he's a genius lol. He's just got such a lot going up in his mind and knows what he wants to play and how to do it.

he wasn't actually more famous when he died. people worshipped the ground he walked on because he happened to write songs that coincidently made people feel like it referred to their own feelings. but now it seems like more people who were born after he died, only really heard about him, because he died.
but when he was still alive, people actually loved nirvana in it's entirety.
after kurt "killed himself", many, many, many people killed themselves also.
but your mindset isn't wrong, some people, like i said, who were born after he died, pretty much mostly know about him because he died.

no no I agree, he made Nirvana what it was when he was alive, but do you understand what I mean? When celebs die, they seem to become a bigger person then they already was [even if they were pretty big when they were alive, it's just heightened]

Oh yeah and I was born in 1988....but still I was only a little kid, I didn't understand Nirvana, I just remember as a todeller, my dad showing me the Nevermind album, and me laughing because it had a naked baby on it

Hahaha he says it in a part. Its the last name of one of the guys on the MTV2 station and Dave says quote unquote "I just love the name" . And he says it all night long and he keeps asking if Quddus will come but Quddus couldn't make it . I love the whole Quddus thing. Its hiliarous

holy crap.. I downloaded this concert they performed at Bucknell University.. I'm only halfway done with it.. but I started it last night. During their jamming part during Stacked Actors Dave is insanely hyper.. he walks around and goes off into the crowd and puts on headwires and tries to speak but noone can hear him and then he goes and climbs this thing a few rings up and then comes back down and starts drinking out of a cup (water? beer?) and he takes big gulps and then gives it to Taylor and they drink 2 or 3 cups. Its so cute and this is all of STacked Actors. He was really hyper and then he starts playing Headwires sitting down on the platform that Taylor and his drumkits are on.
