PROBOT
-Dave has considered and talked about a 2nd probot album but he's a bit torn about it. The first Probot album was something spontaneous and he felt it at the time and wouldn't want to force it just for the sake of another album like that. He's also run out of ideas as to who he could approach for vocals. I suggested maybe he could go for more contemporary metal musicians from across the genre like Phil from PANTERA and he said they actually did make an arrangement with Phil and had a track ready to send it to him but when they went to contact him and send the song he couldn't do it because, in Dave's words, he was "sick or something". He also wants to focus more on foo fighters stuff right now because he's excited about the next album
OTHER SONGS THEY CONSIDERED FOR ACOUSTIC TOUR
-Dave said they did mess with "Aurora" a bit, but the one song which they managed to work out but didn't go ahead with playing right now was "Exhausted". They rehearsed this a few times, and following my request to Dave for them to play it at the last Sydney show Taylor later did say that they tried "Exhausted" one more time at the soundcheck for the last (Thursday) show in Sydney but it didn't work. Dave said the other guys in the extended lineup knew how to play it but it just didn't work with all 8 of them very well. Who knows though; to our luck they'll probably pull it out at the Dylan shows. But that's just because I have bad luck, so don't expect to hear it.
THE NEXT FOO ALBUM
Ok both Dave and Taylor told us a bit about the next album. Taylor gave us the most info. He said that it's going to be balanced between rock stuff and acoustic / mellower songs. It's not going to be rock in a harder kind of way like "Colour and the shape", its more going to be laidback and melodic very much like "There is Nothing left to Lose". Tay said they've already got quite a few songs for the album and they've demoed a whole lot of them and after the Dylan shows they're going to go back to the studio and get back to work on it. Tay in particular said that one of the songs is a close rip off of the song "Regatta De Blanc" by the Police which I barely remembered but Taylor was nice enough to sing a bit of it and drum on his pants lol. I asked Dave on Thursday if there would be any of that "schitzophrenic metal sounding" stuff that he was quoted as saying in an interview recently and he laughed and said it'll probably a bit more mellower than that
"GET UP I WANNA GET DOWN" / ONE BY ONE
Breadman asked Taylor about if they'd ever be a boxset with stuff like the million dollar demos (no serious answer, Tay just laughed and said yeah one day when were old and poor or something like that lol) and then I remembered to ask Taylor what the deal was with "Get up i wanna get down". I asked him if the song on the coat tail riders album was the same song that apparently was left out of 1X1 and he said no, "Get up i wanna get down" on the coattail riders album is a completely new song that Taylor wrote, it has nothing to do with the foos. He said "get up i wanna get down" was a title that was being thrown around during 1X1 that he loved. He said before they came up with One by One, "get up...." was going to be the name of that album. I said that they posted on the board though around that time about a song with that name and he said that it was only a tentative title they had for one song, they never had a song with that title / lyric, they eventually changed it so Tay took the name for his own song because he liked it so much.
-"THE COLOUR AND THE SHAPE"
This one was discussed with Pat. I asked him that I heard rumours apparently there were some songs he didn't play guitar on at all on TCATS and what songs they were and why he didn't. He said Dave already went ahead and recorded all the guitar parts for a few songs, it wasn't a clash of musical ideas or anything like that. He couldn't remember all the songs but he did mention "See you" and "Walking after you". Adam asked him if there were any outtakes from those sessions, stuff like "Sea Valentine" or whatever, and he said the first time they recorded the album (at Bear Creek or wherever it was, before Will got kicked out), there were a number of songs they recorded there that didn't end up on the final TCATS album, "Make a bet" is only one of those songs. He said he still has a cd at home with the complete recording of the first sessions, all the songs including the outtakes. No, we couldn't get a copy lol |

I'm still interested to hear Probot. I know it's not exactly my kind of music, but I still kinda want to hear what it sounds like. |

Kaiser Chiefs + Weezer + Foos = heaven. Especially when Dave informs us that he was born "right here in Ohio on July 14", unaware that his birthday is actually JANUARY 14. |

And yes, it is weird that you love his shoes. hahah. He has this one pair of shoes that's exactly the same as one of my brother's. I think. It's very exciting.
And yeah, I think it says something when you're so drunk you forget your own birthday |
