Had A Life Before GSB ![]() Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 28177 ![]() ![]() | I have just realized that two years ago there was a tribut for Clash and Joe Strummer in my town and that there is a band called Radio Clash and they just play Clash songs. ![]() I hope that there will be another tribute ![]() |
Rotten Idiot ![]() Age: 34 Gender: Female Posts: 671 ![]() | Today some dumbass football player came over to me and he was surrounded by his friends and smirking and he was like "Hey let me copy your homework" and I told him to fuck off and all his friends started snickering and he looked at my shirt and goes "Oh so you like The Clash? They're such a good rap group!" And his friends all started laughing. I won't mention what I did in retaliation, 'cause I got in trouble and I'm slightly ashamed. It was worth it though! The Clash? A rap group? *shakes head* |

Rotten Idiot ![]() Age: 34 Gender: Female Posts: 671 ![]() | Well thank you. That makes me feel better. But at the same time, I'm now a target for that kid and his friends. Eh oh well. They'll get tired of me soon. I'm really not that interesting. |
worn-out astronaut. Had A Life Before GSB ![]() Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 28177 ![]() ![]() | Rotten:I know this has nothing to do with you, but about being a target. Well yesterday I send a paper message in class to my friend and I told her I like old people ![]() Ok, this was out of the picture. |

White Riot King For A Couple Of Days ![]() Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 4761 | Aww, don't feel bad. I like old people too. |
worn-out astronaut. Had A Life Before GSB ![]() Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 28177 ![]() ![]() | White Riot:I dont feel bad at all, but now everyone thinks I wanna rape all old people. And the thing is I told everyone I was the one who wrote that thing and that I dont like all old people just specific old people so, yeah, bad thing to say. And my friend said I wana rape old punks and this guy asked who and I showed him a pic of Joe and he said he looks ugly ![]() ![]() |

Rotten Idiot ![]() Age: 34 Gender: Female Posts: 671 ![]() | That's really annoying and Joe is far from ugly. He may be physically dead, but he's really quite far from it when you look at the impact he and his music still have. It's really easy to respect him and love him because he's given so many people so much to say and to think about. I know how you mean about people not understanding the old person deal. I get the same thing when people hear that I like Johnny Rotten. Everyone goes "eww he so old and shit" and I'm like "yeah but he's still as smart and honest as ever and he's still the same person". |
worn-out astronaut. Had A Life Before GSB ![]() Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 28177 ![]() ![]() | Rotten:Exactly! This girl, she loves Ringo Starr and The Beatles and she was the only one who really understood me! I mean, yeah, what I said sounded perverted cause I wanted it to sound like that cause I was joking, but they dont get what type of love is it. The only think those people were having on their mind is the fact that I wanna rape him. But Joe has influenced me in so many ways, as well as Clash and he is my hero... They just dont understand that. The whole hero part and Im not even trying to explain it cazse they are low-minded. |
Rotten Idiot ![]() Age: 34 Gender: Female Posts: 671 ![]() | [Bittersweet] cant fail: Yeah well you've got your priorities straight as far as I'm concerned. People don't seem to realize that there's more than one kind of love. I can relate to you because I'm the same way with John Lydon- he's really inspired me and made me realize that it's best to always speak my mind, 'cause that's the only way I'm going to make a difference. But so many people today only really pay attention to the pop-stars and celebrities of today, and they don't even think about the people that are considered "old" but who actually made a difference in society. I find this disturbing, but since those people don't know anything of Joe Strummer, they may write him off as "old and boring" just 'cause they don't know who he is and what a great thing he did just by being himself. The important thing is that you know the difference and that you're smart enough to go a different way than them and to be inspired by someone else. Am I making any sense or do I just sound like I'm trying to make a point and failing? |
whoa King For A Couple Of Days ![]() Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 3384 | When you think about it, you really aren't thinking of the person as 'old' or 'dead', you're thinking of them as the person, and just that. It makes no sense for anyone to say "Ew, he's old," and know nothing about them. And it hasn't got anything to do with them, so I don't see the problem. Obviously those people are really petty and have completely boring lives. I've always wondered why people put so much energy into negative things. Why bother? It's an absolute waste of time. People could be going out and being relatively positive, speaking their mind, and making an impact. Instead they have to trash other people's views? That's just disgusting. |
White Riot King For A Couple Of Days ![]() Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 4761 | This is inspiring ![]() I agree, and this --"He may be physically dead, but he's really quite far from it when you look at the impact he and his music still have" may be one of the best statements I've heard in a really long time. And I see no problem with loving old people either--I think we can all relate here. I love Mick, of course now he is not as...well...let's say attractive, but he's still an amazing human being, and such an attribute to this world. I hope this old person thing has rolled off your back by now? |
worn-out astronaut. Had A Life Before GSB ![]() Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 28177 ![]() ![]() | whoa:The biggest problem is that people are ignorant. They dont know nothing about Clash, about Joe, but hey, its not a problem to trash him. For example the Ringo Starr fan, it never crossed my mind to tell her that he is old or stupid or whatever just because I dont like how he looks like or something. I dont trash other peoples views or heros or even they favorite bands not even if I cant stand them. I dont see the point in that, it could hurt somebbody. I honestly dont care what others think of me or my taste in music, at that point they usually always make fun of me, but I take it easy and laugh with them. But some arent like me, maybe they would be hurt and I dont know wheres the pleasure in spitting on someone elses taste. White Riot:Trust me, it will never roll off my back, but this is my last year with this people anyway. And I take it all as a big joke. This dude draw a punk on the school desk and he drew his grave and a cat shiting on it ![]() |
Rotten Idiot ![]() Age: 34 Gender: Female Posts: 671 ![]() | Life's too short to deal with kids like that asshole. When you know what you like, it's just stupid to be bothered by someone else's opinion, even if it's completely alien to your opinion. Good to hear that you're not minding him. Yesterday I got a magazine and opened it to a random page- there was Mick. I flipped the tv on to VH1-there was Joe. Listened to the radio-there was the Clash. Anyone who thinks that the Clash's music has lost all its meaning and that they are a thing of the past must walk around with their eyes shut. No wonder they're so naive. The Clash's music means as much as ever because no one's fixed the problems that The Clash addressed in their songs. The most important thing that people need to realize is that no matter how old a person is, no matter how much their looks have changed, they're STILL THE SAME PERSON on the inside. They still hold the same opinions, they still stand by what they've said in the past, and they still have the SAME mindset, and that's not going to change. May I quote John Lydon on this one? "The people who slag you off do so because they have little knowledge of you. If you confront them and give them that knowledge, things will be different. That's the whole point of living! That way everyone can learn off each other and enjoy." I think that quote kinda sums up what I'm trying to say. |
