I just bought myself Super Black Market Clash. Now I have something to get me through Driver's Ed tonight. Tomorrow I'm bringing in Know Your Rights- I'll let you know what kind of feedback I get.
Lucky. I'm only missing two Clash albums: that and Sanidista! cause I never have enough money to get Sanidista! and they don't sell Super Black Market around here so I'll have to order it online Cheese
I actually found Sandinista! really cheap. It cost like a one CD album.

Yeah it was $27 dollars for me...not cool.

And I've completed my Clash collection now that I've got Super Black Market Clash. Well, I don't have Cut The Crap, but I don't want it either.

I brought in The Call Up today, in the same fashion as Washington Bullets. My teacher had me play it, and Thomas (I don't know if I said his name before) called a drug music. Then I deadpanned a sarcastic comment, and now I'm sure Logan thinks I take drugs. Oh well. He said "What did Thomas call it?"
"Drug music."
"Oh. Is the song good?"
"Yes."
"Do you take drugs?"
"No. (Laughs)"
"What?"
"No, I don't, Logan."
"That's good, I'm sure your mother would kill you if you did."
"I'm sure she would too."
"That's good."
"I'm glad you approve, Logan."

Then Taylor (basically the rightest of the right people I have ever met in my life) said that to him the song was about people who didn't want to fight for their country. Well, seeing how it wasn't written for people like him, I guess I don't care. I feel his values cloud his judgement most of the time though.
Then others had only good things to say about it, and Logan would not stop singing "It's up to you not to heed the call up."

I also found out that the school newspaper was out today, which means that my article is out for people to read. That's good.

My teacher loved Know Your Rights. She made everyone analyze it. She kept going "this song is perfect- it's exactly right!"

@Whoa-Clash music wasnt made for right-winged people and they cant understand it. I can relate to The Call Up cause there was a war in my country and one of the biggest leftovers is the feeling of hate against Serbia and this big nationalism. When people ask me, so you agree to what The Call Up says, I always say yes, but they cant understand it. Its betray for them.

@Rotten-Clash does that to people Wink

^Yeah. I know what you are saying. My teacher said "Does anyone else have anything positive to say?"
When you think about it, drafts and things are unconstitutional (in the States at least, I am unfamilar with other countries' constitutions) because you are basically losing your freedoms to do what you want how you want.

Okay kids, I could use your help here.

For English, we're supposed to be writing an essay about freedom, and whether we have complete freedom or not, or what it takes to be free, or if real freedom actually exists, etc. So I been thinking about how politically motivated the Clash was and how, especially in their first album, they said a lot about the way people's lives were being lived. I also noticed they talked a lot about rich people and how they get more rights than the poor. My teacher says I can use the Clash as a reference point in my essay.

I realize that the only way that I'm going to actually want to do this essay is if I can find a subject that the Clash talk a lot about in their music that can relate to the freedom of an individual. Does that make any sense at all? I feel like I'm not really describing this very well, but if you understand me, do you have any ideas about subjects? If I'm not making any sense, I can try to explain it differently, but my brain is stuck at the moment.

I know what you mean, but Clash were refering to soo many things in their songs its hard to pick just one. You mentioned that rich and poor thing and you can find that subject in many of their songs, but thats not really freedom of an individual, its freedom from capitalism. Maybe you can work with that. Gah, I know I didnt help you.

For all of you that got VH1 Europe, watch it cause they are playing the new Johnny Cash video with Mick very often. Too bad theres not much Mick in it.

Nah that's helpful, actually. I think I'll work with the rich/poor idea. Thanks very much!
