I know what you mean, but Clash were refering to soo many things in their songs its hard to pick just one. You mentioned that rich and poor thing and you can find that subject in many of their songs, but thats not really freedom of an individual, its freedom from capitalism. Maybe you can work with that. Gah, I know I didnt help you.

For all of you that got VH1 Europe, watch it cause they are playing the new Johnny Cash video with Mick very often. Too bad theres not much Mick in it.

Nah that's helpful, actually. I think I'll work with the rich/poor idea. Thanks very much!
RLY? Very Happy

I was watching this TV seria and in the background they were playin Magnificent Seven Cool

So we had guests over tonight and they were asking what I got for Christmas and I mentioned that I got a trip to the Hall Of Fame to see the Clash exhibit. The father of the family goes "the Clash...are they a heavy metal band?" And Mom erupts into "No, they're punk, you know them, they sing London Calling" and she starts singing London Calling waaaaay off key and then he catches on along with my dad and I started trying to sing the right version above them all, so there were four people singing their own versions of London Calling way off key. No one except me knew the words, so they were just going "London Calling yadda yadda yadda London Calling" etc. It was a painful night.

Kinda scary.
My friend thought "London Calling" was "London Garden" and he tried to sing LC one time...
I think I've been through this story before though, so nevermind.
Well, that's all there really is to it anyway, so it doesn't matter now. Confused

That's just as frightening. I'll have nightmares tonight.

Hey you know what been bothering me a lot? My friend gave me a burned copy of Streetcore for Christmas and I've been dying to find the lyrics to Burnin' Streets. Does anyone know where I can find them? I've googled, but nothing came.

Rotten, I tried to found you those lyrics, but those people didnt get that The Meskies have a third album.

Passion is a Fashion was great. It really went into detail and everything and tells you the story behind a lot of Clash songs and albums. I loved it. The only thing is, if you're not British it can be a bit of a struggle to read cause there's A LOT of British lingo in there, but it was a good enough book that I got over that.

Some one put partial lyrics to the song on a site, but that's the most I found. I did find lyrics to some of the other songs on Streetcore, but not that one.

Apparently the man who made the Filth And The Fury is making a documentary called Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten. It's opening January 18th, and I'm not sure where.

thats exciting...i was watching the filth and the fury recently...actually i was talking about the pistols recently cause we were talking about how some teacher told my friend she was being to negative about the future so she should go get a needle, "find a nice juicy vein", and shoot up. i think you can tell where i saw the parallel.

he was joking, btw...
