a few days ago, in latin class, we were learning new uses of the subjunctive, and then our teacher was like ok, and this is the 'should i stay or should i go' subjunctive, so then i turned to my friend who then was like no. don't. no. stop. why did you get her started? because of course i was singing.

p.s. maneam an abeam?=should i stay or should i go?

Did the Clash specifically ask to ban taking pictures, or is it a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame kinda thing?

The whole Rock Hall (minus the lobby) prohibits taking pictures, so they can't let you take a camera up to the Clash exhibit. Dno I doubt it had anything to do with the Clash themselves.

Well I just got back but I failed to get any good pictures because I forgot my goddam camera. Then the only thing I had was my phone, and I can't get those pics on the computer, so I'm very, very sorry. I'll try to tell you about it though. I was really, really amazed at how much stuff they managed to collect. Not only did they have a lot of Mick's clothes, they managed to find a great deal of lyrics (highlights-London Calling, Lost In The Supermarket, etc). It was just a really well put together thing, and I won't forget it soon. This morning I went back there just to have another look and I was the only one in the exhibit, and I just took my time and looked about and it just really left an impact.

It turned out a friend of mine knew someone who knew someone who knew someone, and we got a tour of the vaults, and the stuff that's not on display. The highlight for me was when the guy pulled out a pair of Mick's pant and one of his shirts for me. It was just amazing to see that stuff not behind glass and to be right there with it.

And the guy who gave us the vault tour mentioned to be that the Clash exhibit is being extended until the fall. I highly recommend going if you can.

Thanks! I've been on a Clash marathon ever since I got back. One of the first things you do when you walk into the museum is you watch this video called "Mystery Train", which is like a brief history of rock'n'roll. In the second half of the video, they interviewed a bunch of rock stars (Ozzy Osbourne, Patti Smith, Roger Daltry, etc.) and Joe was one of them, and there was this thing he said in that video...it went something like "Rock and roll really emphasizes and reminds people of the fact that it's really fun to be alive. It's like when you see a little kid skipping down the street and everyone else is worried about their rent or whatever, and you see a kid skipping through all the puddles, that reminds you just how fun it is to be alive". And I LOVED that quote, and it stuck with me because it's so sad yet so amazingly said.

The guy who gave us the vault tour offered me an internship at the museum, and my parents say I can maybe do it. The only thing is I'd have to find a place to live in Cleveland while I did the internship. But at the same time, that's like my dream job, so I'm gonna really try.

I heard on the radio today that Lilly Allen is Joe's niece. I never liked her much, but now I might rethink my dislike for her.

Really? I like her. Her music is fresh and good and she always speaks highly of Joe. I read this interview in Uncut, she said that she`s gonna be the new Ghandi, but that she will never be as big as Joe. Which basically means that she said that Joe is bigger than Ghandi.

She isn't Joe Strummer's neice... according to this interview:

Pitchfork: But you grew up around fame. Did you not expect those things would happen?

Lily Allen: I've been around famous people, but I don't think about them that way. Joe Strummer was my father's best friend but I knew him as Uncle Joe, carrying a bottle of whiskey around. The famous people that I have been around were all really relaxed, not the Ozzy Osbourne types, driving around in limos.

But also apparently the Clash are one of her top 10 bands.
