Anyways, I was walking around this park I never go to and this is what I saw. I didn't write it really, but I was excited someone (besides me) likes The Clash, here, where I live.

 | June 27th, 2007 at 06:39pm Great picture! I'd be really excited if I saw something like that around my town. Sadly, it will probably never happen.
Today I went into St. Marks Place in NY, and I wandered down this other street and went into this consignment-type store, and this employee guy with REALLY long dreads came over and told me to look around. And he goes "You'll find some good stuff if you look hard. And you've obviously got some sense, since you're a Clash fan". We talked for a while about Joe and he told me to go see the Joe mural, and that Joe used to hang around in that area a lot. And then he added sort of sadly "Joe used to shop in here a lot too". The guy was really nice, and it was just sort of a touching moment I guess. |

 | June 28th, 2007 at 06:37am Aww thats really nice. Its great to see people who either met Joe or The Clash or the band just had an impact on their life. I think I would feel great if I saw a teenager in 20 years liking The Clash. |

 | June 29th, 2007 at 09:37am For everyone who's never screen printed before, you must try! Screen printing was part of the basis of the Clash's advertisments and merchandise in their early years. And if you ever get a band, it's a great tool to use for merch and posters.
I prefer silk screens, but I heard some people use other types just for different textures. Anyway, it's a bit of an expensive hobby. You need to purchase special sticky one sided stencil plastic especially for printing, or you can get special paint, or nowadays, I'm starting to use photographic paper to do some really cool effects.
Besically, the simplest one is the stencil. You cut out the negative space, cause that's what you're going to fill in. The plastic has a sticky surface which you attach to the silk screen using an adhesive which is designed for this type of stencil plastic stuff (I'm sorry, I really don't know the actual names, I just know it.). The silk screen is already attached to a frame, so mount the frame on your paper (or fabric) so that it's aligned and then you pour the screen print paint into the frame and use a squigy to swipe the paint across the area you want the colour to go.
It sounds complicated but it really isn't. I'll photograph some of my work and show it some time if anyone likes.
Recently I've been refining a technique using full colour printing with the full spectrum colours but now I'm just rambling so I'll shut up now. |

 | June 29th, 2007 at 09:41am Color Me Impressed:Probably sounds like stupid question but I've always wondered. Believe me, this week I was with my sister, and I've heard stupider questions.
She asked me how old Jean Phillipe was 'when he was 37?'!
It don't get much more stupid than that! |

Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 9656 | June 29th, 2007 at 01:46pm I tried using a silk screen... I made a picture of an anchor
but yeah, I don't have access to one so I'll have to stick with stencils & spray paints.
I love all the old clash posters & stuff :] |

Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 9656 | June 29th, 2007 at 06:24pm It's not that hard when you actually give it a go.
But then again, I only used it after it had all been prepared.
Anyway, I finally found my super black market clash cd & brought it on the bus. My friends reaction was "this isn't as hardcore as i thought the clash were"
Heh. |

 | July 1st, 2007 at 11:49am So I found the London Calling Special Edition and The Singles. So I need your help on what to decide to buy! LC is a bit expensive and even though I have the album I would love to have the Vanilla Tapes and the DVD. The Singles are cheaper, but I already have those songs even though the whole album seems impressive and I know I wont ever collect the real singles. |

I was thinking of getting the singles... but yeah, I had all the songs on it. |
