I don't think it's that dangerous, you just need to be careful. Don't give out information such as MSN addy's or phone numbers until you're completely sure that you trust the person. If you're having doubts don't do it.
I've been lucky in that the people I've met via forums have all been who they've said they are, and I've always had someone to come with me just in case. Talking to people online is great because you can get to know people that you'd never have got to know under 'normal' circumstances, and I've managed to make some really great friends because of it.
if you don't like spill out where you live and everything... then i think it would be ok...

What happened? o.o
She doesn't have a brother Mark, he was made up. He even had his own myspace, and his own GSB account, he was Charlie's boyfriend.
It was just all a joke.
Anyone could do that. If an 11 year old girl could fool us all, then a 30 or 40 year old man could as well.

A message boards is still a difference to a chat room.
People can still gather information about you and where you live, and I wouldnt even have to talk to you to know that you live in Germany. I'[m not saying everyone is going to Die who uses the internet though, don't think thats what I meant.
i dont think it is at all as dangerous as people think
only the person talking can put themselves in that situation and besides if someone really wanted to find you they would look for the ID number and track you that way
myspace is getting way to much crap

I agree wholeheartedly with that. It's just as easy for someone to follow you home from somewhere without you noticing as it is for someone to find you from online. In fact, it's easier.

Yes it is as dangerous as people think, If you don't be careful then you can think your in love with somebody you have never met face to face or be addicted to websites and block yourself off from the rest of the world

but people generalize it
many adults think myspace is bad - its not
it only is if YOU let it get that far
if YOU set up a date or a meeting with someone
its YOUR fault if you are raped ect.
its isn't myspace , its is only the way of communication
AIM, YIM, MSN, are no different
people think its such a bad place and anyone you talk to is lying
i am how i say i am , a 13 year old from MA
if someone wants to come get me , they will have to do alot of research/hacking because i actually think , i don't tell people to much personall info
