Amen to that. thank you lord. i agree. across the Internet I've seen some quite heated debates on this - why does it matter so much to lots of people? I don't understand. I like to play with a pick but I also use my fingers, it depends how I feel. I've never heard a similar debate with other instruments.

Amen to that. thank you lord. i agree. I think it just depends on the style of music that your playing. You summed it up well. There is nothing wrong with using a pick. I use a pick. There's no good reason why we shouldn't use one anyways.

Well its depend on what genre you're playing, if you don't use pick for punk songs, well that's a shame...

I always thought this was right (part during all distortion guitar and stuff): 5-5-5-5-5-5-0-0-0-0-0-4-4-4-4-4- but its not, i just realized the 0 is supposed to be higher then 5 and 4, not lower..

And why not? A pick gives you a totally different tone, and when you play something that uses chords, you'll most likely have to use a pick. What do you have against using a pick? Different people have different preferences, even Flea uses a pick on some occasions.
