Che Guevara

Che Guevara: What do you guys think? Is he a hero or a villian? I know there was a thread in the pictures forum but it got deleted. Personally, I'm conflicted. I know he overthrow a dictator but he also helped install a new one. On the other hand, he was one of the most passionate, sincere and courageous men in history. I know this is a little off topic but I think the people who wear Che Guevara t-shirts are complete posers and would make him turn in his grave.

I hate how so many young people wear all the shirts without knowing shit about him. But I must say I admire him for many reasons.

Someone else who understands the irony of Guevara's image being sold through the capitalist free market which he was so against.

I expect many people on here to have no idea of the man behind the montage. I expect some 'supporters' who think they have an idea. I expect very few die-hard Che fans. I expect a strong proportion of people here to have a strong hatred for Guevara. We shall see.

I don't really know that much about him. Please don't hold that against me...

Once again, history is very relative. Not too much is black and white.

But I have actually discussed this man in great depth on another forum previously, and In me experience, he provokes very strong 'for' or 'against' opinions. There is a great deal of evidence for both sides. How this evidence is interpreted, depends on the person.

My sentiments exactly. He's like Marx or Reagan or Napolean in that repect, that you either love him or hate him...but it's all relative.

I think he's a hero but loads of people have a totally different opnion on him, but I agree about capitalists

I don't know much about him, but my friend knitted a jumper with him on rather than buying the actual merchandise. He wears it a lot..

haha, my mate bought this guitar that picture of him on it exclaiming "oh i want that guitar! it has a picture of that guy on it!" He didn't even know his name. However, it is a really nice guitar...its got seymour duncan's in it, looks good, and only £160 i think....

All i know is he's the face of a revolution and has become iconic because a photographer working for a newspaper took a really neat picture of him (something the photographer doesn't own the rights to, jeez i bet he's spinning thinking about the millions he lost)

I also know that i walked past a shop that sold a toaster with his picture on it. part from that I am uneducated about him.

I'm surpised so many people don't know who Guevara was.
I'd recommend this like. It's a good article, anyway. Worth reading.
