I have also noticed in quite a few stories that when someone has open-ended quotes[No speaker tags] there have been a lack of periods at the end.

What I've seen:
"Hello"
"How are you?'
"I am fine"

What I should see:
"Hello."
"How are you?"
"I am fine."

I don't know if this matters too much. ._.
This just bothers me somewhat.

Like I see this ALOT as an edit here... That too a pet peeve of mine... If it's a question or exclaimation those punctation marks are used... it's like what do people have against periods? Wink

"Where did we go?"
"I'm here!"

It's great to have some descriptions in, but sometimes people take it too far. You don't really need 3 adjectives to describe one thing. Sometimes things even work well without any/much description.

There's one thing that I found really useful whilst writing stories. I read some of what I 'd written and made a list of words I'd used a lot so I could look them up in a thesaurus and find alternatives. I haven't changed many yet, but I have used those words less so it does help. I also made a list of speech words that I have out whenever I'm writing, which helps me to avoid using the same speech words over and over again. I think it's a pretty good idea and it works so gove it a go.

Then please don't write a story if you can't appreciate it or use it.

Then why are you posting in the stories thread that deals with writing a story if you don't write them?

And I'm not wearing socks, thank you very much love.

I was originally reading the thread and appreciating the good grammar when I came across a funny post, so I replied.

I've been seeing a new trend in punctuation mistakes and to put it bluntly, it's really pissing me off Neutral
I've seen in multiple stories that people are putting periods and commas outside of quotations, replacing periods at the end of sentence with commas and putting periods outside of quotations when there are already exclamation points or question marks inside of them.

What I've seen:
Elle had a suspicous look on her face. "He's in a band?" She asked.
"What are they called?". Tara asked.
"I forgpt, anyway I goota go to French"
"Yeah im off to drama".
Elle sighed,
"Art, here I come".
Elle grabbed her sketch book and pencil case out of her locker. The made her way to Art class,
"Elle, sit with me", Ash said,

Oh! I know! It drives me up the wall! I can't stand it! I want to scream when I see it! Do you not listen in English class? Have you never read a book or magazine in your life? How could you think that's right?

I see alot of:

"Hi", she said and smiled

"Come with me to the store", I told her

Sometimes the entire story is like that. . .which is very frustrating.

That's why I can't be an editor. I would send every single story back and scream 'Fix it you moron!'.
