Verses From Depression

From a really happy poem to a sad one. I'm not trying to depress you guys. I'm just writing about something that happened to me about a week ago.

Tear-torched faces were never used as a fashion
statement. She presses a pillow to her inflamed eyes
to stop the burning and beads her misery across
its feather-weight possibilities of dreams.
It used to be so much easier to sleep through reality
but now papercut realities slash her comatosed thoguhts
until they drip with faerie-dust lies and pixie insensibilities.

Making new starts with dead ends at stop signs,
she keeps swerving through fast lanes to back-alley barricades.
Brick-wall scenarios never did appeal to her heightened
sense of adventure but that's all she received within her
suburban wilderness where there's no belief in anything but pride.

Porous arguments sink through her deafened ears
until she's streaking her face with mascara tears
and scolding herself with bathwater while she starves
her mortal body. She just wants to feel some other
sensation than the shrouds of misery over her eyes.

And her academic mind is plagued by scrolls of doubt.
They wrinkle at the tips and curl like her form
around the pillow. Confidence is a backpack of pebbles
that they sling around her heart nonchalantly.
They'll never recall its purpose but she'll grapple
with the pressure of constant success in a
far from perfect world of liars and flawed personas.

It's all a baited break-down that she nurses
with cracked determination and scepticism in anything
beyond the trails of grime across her window.
It obscures her views of reality and maps her trails
of depressed insanity when all her faith in reality,
relationships and reasoning burn on tear-lit funeral pyres.
They burn so beautifully in the midnight air,
smoking her mind into nonsense and her eyes into
yet another cascade of magma anguish that she casts
onto her pillow like a frantic SOS that no one will hear.
Because no one can read her scrawled pleas
when they dry while she dreams of peace.

It's such a sad poem...
