Rough poem thing I wrote the other day. What do you think?

I'm so happy, simply because I'm in my home
And I'm kinda hungry
I'm so happy, just to lie on the concrete road
Staring up at the sky and wondering why
I'm so happy
Just to be happy

It's nice to think that there needn't be more
When all there need be is this happiness
Just to be happy

I hope this feeling never ends
It's nice to listen to the same CD twice
Or watch the same DVD 26 times
I don't mind walking the same street each day
I'm just happy to be walking

It's nice to know that this feeling exists
Even if it sometimes hides
It's so happy; Just being alive

I sang an enlightened song because I'm happy
Just to be happy.

Woohoo! A Poem that isn't about death, self harm or loss. I therefore like it.

Its got a pretty cool chorus bit, too.

I give it the 409 Thumbs up.

I like it. it's not emo or tragic or depressing. That's why people aren't commenting, they like feeling sad and depressed, I'm to YOUNG and HEALTHY to hate my life. Then kids say, "Oh, my life sucks, I hate it, I'm gonna go cut myself now". If they don't wanna be grateful maybe they need something to happen to then to uinderstand that life's not bad. But, you're good.. I like you.

Thank you! See, that's the kind of thing I was looking for - someone who appreciates my work Razz

I know what you mean about everyone just being all deppressive all the time, I was hoping that this would lighten their minds for just a minute. I'm actually usually quite down so when I was feeling like this I took it to my advantage and wrote down as much about this feeling as I could.

And I like it.

i haven't heard anything that happy and uplifiting in a long time.

makes you think about how negative everyone is all the time. oh well

yeah! now i am happy.
when i am happy, i get hyper. when i am hyper, i am strange. and nothing is quite like being strange. you know, when you are happy everything is funny.

This is one of the top 5% of GSB poems.
I don't know if you've read anything by Mark Strand (my second favorite professional poet) but you sound just like him, specifically his poem Reasons For Moving (one of my favorite poems.)

I guess that's why I'm partial to this. But people need to see that you don't have to pack a shitload of emotion into a poem in order to make it amazing, you don't need a huge political veiw, you don't need all of the shit you think you need.

This was my first day of Summer Vacation and what a great first poem to read for it. Happy for the sake of being Happy, you don't know why.

What a perfect demonstration of being naive and happy.....such a perfect theme to write about. The problem is everyone tries to get too deep when writing about it when it could just be this simple.

This is definately one of GSBs top 5% of poetry.

I read this expecting a Mr. Brightside knockoff (the title and the number 26 are the only not perfect things in it, but there's nothing wrong with them.)

If you let me, I would like to save this poem to my computer. Please just PM me or let me know here.

Wow thank you! I wasn't expecting a comment this long but it is greatly appreiciated!

I know the title wasn't perfect but I couldn't think of anything else,
and the number 26 isn't my favourite part either, it's just what I wrote down.

I wouldn't mind at all if you save my poem, just as long as you don't try to publish it with your name! Razz

Thank you for reading it and giving me such great feedback!
