 | June 3rd, 2006 at 03:53pm Influenced heavily by the book In the Name of Identity, which was my brother's college assignment. He gave it to me once he was through, and I read it. There are two sentences in here that are actually taken from the book, so credit goes to Amin Maalouf.
The Beauty of Blind Opinion
We find ourselves trying to fight fires
By pouring oil on them. Isn’t it a wonder
That we don’t see the ongoing flare?
It must be a product of the blinding light.
In every era the eye dwells on certain phrases
And skims over others. We’ve gotten lost
On this one page of chronic negativity.
Please tell me there’s something you can do.
Oh doctor, doctor, cure us now.
Cure us of our identity or
History may just repeat itself.
That’s the beauty of blind opinion.
But it’s so evident, so evident
That no one even really cares.
We could just go on and on
Generalizing society forever.
So where are we now? Walking away.
