You're not using them after you die,a nd if it can save someone's life, I'm all for it. However, I can see why people wouldn't do it, it is a little weird thinking that your going to get cut open and parts of you will get thrown in someone else. Just recently one of the girls who got an organ from him was on the news to talk about how he saved her life. I plan on donating my organs.  |

Imagine donating organs. I mean, you only need part of your liver to live. Only need one kidney. (Is it creepy that I'm doing this math?) |
| GreenDayislife Idiot Age: - Gender: - Posts: 705 | im a donner. im mean i havent donated obviously but it says i will on my license. i had to discuss this topic in an essay for english last year. i know if i were the person recieving the organs i would be alittle creaped out about having a dead persons organs in me but i dont see anything weird about giving them. if everyone was a donor we could keep the waiting lists from being so long and save so many lives. there is this one case that happend near where i live. this woman was trying to commit suicide by popping pills and when she passed out her dog ( who must have been realy intelegent) tried to get the pills out of her by mulling her face. it was completly torn apart so that reconstructive surgery wasnt enough. so they took the face of a girl who had recently died and basicly gave it to the mulled woman as a new face. so now when ever the woman looks in the mirror she sees someone else. in that case i would probably be against it but it did let the woman have a normal appearance again. but still goning through life as another person.... but that is an extreem situation. other wise i think everyone shold be a donnor but i guess it has to be optional. im not sure why though. your not going to use them why not give em to someone who can. does this topic also includ donating your whole body to scientific reasearch after your dead? |

I never did it before 'til my dad told me that his girlfriend had an important lack of platelets. It's a genetic disease. (A normal person has 200 billion platelets per liter of blood. She only has 150 000 platelets per liter of blood. Which means hers scars never heal. A pat on her arm and she gets a big hematoma... And more than that, it's a big problem when it goes to an operation: hemmorrhages etc.. and many more things I can't say) Donating blood is as important as donating an organ.. I'm all pro for the reason above.. Sadly, now, people don't do it 'til something happens to a relative or someone they know.. Everybody should be concerned though.. |

So theres some thing in my medical hisotry saying I can't donate incase there is a tiny possiblity I might pass something on. Its a shame, I want to do it. I'm very pro-giving up my organs for donations, because I'm not going to use then when i'm dead. Cecilia is right, blood is as important as organs, I should know, I had a transplant. Its a shame more people don't do it, but they do try and make people more often nowadays. |

I don't have anything, I'm healthy *touches wood* that's why I give my blood now... |

King For A Couple Of Days  Age: 35 Gender: Female Posts: 3502 | it would be great to help someone and have a part of you live inside someone else... but...maybe our families would have something against it...and,yeah,to be cut open and let someone do stuff to your body... and,from the medical p.o.v. there is always a cahnce you'd get an infection or pass it on to someone... but, i would definitely like to donate my organs,cuz i want to be of some use to this world after i'm gone... i'm donating blood and i know a couple of ppl,including myself,that recieved it once...i have a very rare blood type and it had probably saved my life...that's why i'm donating my blood. |

If someone wants to donate their organs to save someone elses life, they should be able to. And you guys are acting like you would see the body all bloody and cut up. They repair it for funerals and everything, they don't just leave it all cut up with open wounds. Usually with clothes you cant even see where the organs were removed from. |
