Ordinary wish

Another one of my written straight forward, unedited things. Think this one is more of a song.


Ordinary Wish


She’s not of her own world, she’s not helpless nor weak
Though her inner, deeper wish is of the ordinary kind
Not a week, a day or hour passes by without her thinking of
That thing she wants so badly that it leaves scars on her mind

Staring at the winter sky, a shooting star passes by;
She makes her wish though she knows it’s silly, but we all have our own beliefs
Walking back home, a yellow cat crosses the road
She whispers her wish as a hello and goodbye

Her birthday arrives, and spring is here
The cake’s got another candle, the girl’s got another year
As the shining flames are all put out in a flash
She begs for the one thing that weren’t on her wish list

Staring at the clouds one day, smelling the summer flowers
A bee buzzes by and the birds are singing but she won’t even notice
Ladybug lands gently on her shoulder and in a moment she’s back to wondering
Watching it fly away again she gently breathes out the one wish she can’t let go of

She keeps faith in many things, at least her power to change it all
Still her inner wish is standing tall as it did so long ago
The only thing she never believed in was her being deserved to be loved;
She always thought they never saw her, never thought of her as what she felt like she was

She never knew all she had to do was to pick up a phone or walk out the door, down the stairway, and 1042 steps down the street.

She wasn’t ordinary, not at all
But her wish was.
