Does anyone else love this movie/book?

It's about this kid who lives in Tulsa with his brothers and his gang, and one night after he gets into a fight with his brother/guardian he runs away with his best friend who winds up killing a member of their rival gang. They go to one of their friends for help, and this whole huge chain of events unfolds.

Yeah, I'm bad at summaries, but, yeah.... lol

I loved the book. I liked the movie, but didn't like it as much as the book. We watched it in language arts and everyone was like "Is that Tom Cruise?" And his name came up in the credits and we were like aha!

Have you seen the complete novel version of the book? It has a lot more stuff from the book in it, and it's a lot truer(sp?) to the book.

I had to read it for 8th grade. It wasn't terrible, and the movie was pretty good.

I loved the book. The movie was all right, but I liked the book better. Wasn't C. Thomas Howell (Ponyboy) the same one that was in The Karate Kid?

No that was Ralph Macchio (Johnny.)
C. Thomas Howell was in a movie called Red Dawn...

The Outsiders is one of my favorite books. S.E. Hinton is a great author and I love every book that I've read from her but especially The Outsiders and Tex. Sodapop and Johnny are my favorite characters from The Outsiders.

I had to read it for English in grade eight. Unfortunately, I can't seem to enjoy books I'm forced to read. It just takes the fun out of it.

This is such a great book but the movie left out a lot of good parts. It's my favorite book in the whole world x]
