Jakalope doesnt rsvp to the party. It doesnt ring the doorbell. It walks right in and commands attention. Born4, the follow up to 2004s It Dreams, isn't here to waste anyones time.

With Dave Rave Ogilvie (Skinny Puppy, Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, David Bowie) once again at the helm of the project, Jakalope returned to the scene of the crime, recording Born4 at Vancouvers famed Warehouse Studio. NIN god Trent Reznor signed on as co-producer without question. Ogilvie and Phil Caivano (Blitzspeer, Monster Magnet) locked themselves away to create the music, coming together with Katie B for the lyrics and melodies. A star in her own right, Katie B, plants herself firmly at center stage as the front woman of Jakalope. There's nothing small town about this Airdrie, Alberta native who was discovered by Ogilvie when she took a job at The Warehouse Studio in the summer of 2001. She's come into her own and marked her territory as one of this country's most engaging performers. There's an evolution in her songwriting and her collaboration with Caivano and Ogilvie that's evident from your very first listen.

The album hits your inner ear with the military industrial rock tinged song Anthem 2. It rallies the troops. Instigator, featuring Allie Sheldan of Rio Bent, utilizes playground taunting to get its point across. Danger - The undeniably catchy first single, Upside Down (And I Fall), may cause involuntary clapping while driving. Thom D'arcy of Small Sins guests on Forecast 42. Bob Pantella of Monster Magnet lends his skills on the seedy dark bar 3am crawler, Intervention. Star 24 (No Apologies) features Alex Lifeson of Rush. Unsaid is the departure track of Born4, with fellow Vancouver transplant, Jeremy Fisher adding his voice to this beautiful acoustic roots song. Get It Back features Bill Reiflin (REM). Something New finishes the album with a dance tune that will be the soundtrack in your car, on your ipod and when youve reached the club destination of choice, you won't be the only one hounding the dj to put it on next!

They came, they saw, they kicked ass. Naysayers were quickly silenced by the supergroup collective of artists ability to take their studio creation and charge it head on into the concert setting. Performing live to thousands across Canada, the band traveled the world, landing themselves the title of second highest selling Canadian album in Japan last year.
