When reading a story, does the name of the character matter that much to you?
Is shamelessly trying to get into head that the name doesn't matter, because I can't think of one

Sometimes... and sometimes not...

Pickle has good thuoghts about character names... which I agree with. I personally don't like the weird spelled names or the 'punky' names and what not... but that's reading stories here.

When I read in the outside world, the names don't matter as much to me.

I'm writing a story about Tre being a substitute teacher, except I don't know where to go with it. Any ideas or suggestions?

What kind of school does he sub at(college, hig school, elmentary school); what town/place(Anywhere , USA), is the love interest another teacher, WHy is he a sub teacher, is he still playing, is it the rest of GD involved.

There are some questions/ideas to start you off.

Au contraire to what Michelle just said, I fully believe that if your main character has a unique name that it makes your story more memorable. There can be a thousand and one stories with "Jimmy" in them, but if you have a story with say the names "Beulah" or "Sabrina" the names are more unique than most, therefore easier to remember. Particularly over at Mibba now with the use of Search Tags, having a name that stands out can truly be beneficial to someone finding your story as well.

I think I'm better at writing one-shots than full stories.

I'm afraid of commitment. File

here's another one that's buzzing around in my head:

A World War I drama staring "Green Day" and "My Chemical Romance" as doughboys.
It would have GD as the main charaters and MCR as the supporting.
The major issue is if I should use MCR more, less, or not at all.
Then there's issue of how old they should be when this takes place.

I'm old as dirt and I was taught about this in school.. along with songs from the era Wink

Over There
chorus

Over there, over there,
Send the word, send the word over there -
That the Yanks are coming,
The Yanks are coming,
The drums rum-tumming
Ev'rywhere.

So prepare, say a pray'r,
Send the word, send the word to beware.
We'll be over, we're coming over,
And we won't come back till it's over
Over there.
