Buddy Christ Falling In Love With The Board

 | July 15th, 2006 at 03:43pm I searched and looked through and didnt find anything, so here it is. Written By Anthony Burgess in 1963, it was later made for film by Stanley Kubrick.
Being the adventures of a young man ... who couldn't resist pretty girls ... or a bit of the old ultra-violence ... went to jail, was re-conditioned ... and came out a different young man ... or was he ?
Told by the central character, Alex, this brilliant, hilarious, and disturbing novel creates an alarming futuristic vision of violence, high technology, and authoritarianism. Anthony Burgess' 1963 classic stands alongside Orwell's 1984 and Huxley's Brave New World as a classic of twentieth century post-industrial alienation, often shocking us into a thoughtful exploration of the meaning of free will and the conflict between good and evil.

Age: 39 Gender: Female Posts: 11507 | July 17th, 2006 at 07:11pm The movie actually has a whole different idea, basically. It has a different ending, so the whole moral of the story changes. Better to read the book before watching the movie, in my opinion. |

If I was to explain it, it would take about 3 pages of something. There's a shitload of meanings, and basically it's impossible to explain 'cuz everyone has their own truth in this case - some are for, some are against. It's like Little Prince - you can read when you're a kid and take it all as a fairy-tale, and then you grow-up, re-read it and go "Woah ".
I know that's no help, but I think it would be unfair for me to "explain" what the movie is about 'cuz I'll be forcing my opinion on you. I think people should 'get it' by themselves.
One thing I can tell you, it's a psychological sociological research, and has nothing to do with "sick and twisted ". |

 | August 5th, 2006 at 11:34pm The reason the morals are different between the film and book is because the American version of the book released in the '60s didn't include the last chapter that twists the ending and was the book that the movie was based on. Not until later did they release the book with all 21 chapters in America. |

Haha I know, when I first watched the film and his mum is shouting 'Time to get up for school!' I was like wtf? School? He can't be younger than like 18!
Apparently Malcolm McDowell was like...20 odd when he did A Clockwork Orange though |
