Heartbreak

Curled up tight in the corner of my worst nightmare, my fears turn themselves into sharp deathly tears and dark shadows rip at my soul. There’s no way out. There’s nowhere to turn.
With open eyes filled with heartbreak, I look into your smile and discover unknown depths. As I build myself up again, you take a kick and knock me down. Why are things never what they seem?
Being with you unhinged the bubble in my mind as you gave me the comfort and love I craved. Deep down, loving you made me the sinful angel flying above the world.
What’s wrong with me, I wonder as I struggle to let you go. Maybe someday, somehow, will become the end of this draining heavenly curse. It’s all based on time and trust, as I try to blank out the pain.
Before I drift away, a hand beckons me to awaken and somehow life is different. It’s changed for the better, yet I’m not sure how it happened.
Although I still want you, need you, I manage to smile and carry on as normal. In the end I succeeded, and you failed to destroy me. I can survive without you. I will survive without you.

UNFORTUNATELY YET TYPICALLY THIS IS ABOUT A CLOSE RELATIONSHIP.
