"The Automatic are four teenagers whose songs are route maps to escaping the humdrum life of the small Welsh village of Cowbridge. Growing up on the edges of Cardiff they started playing together in primary school using sofas and 5 string guitars.
By the time they were 16 and staring at a future that said get a job or go to college, they knew making music was the antidote to, 'the automatic life', says Iwan, 'When we came up with the name The Automatic, the irony of us escaping that life, of not doing what was automatically expected of us meant a lot to all of us'.
Rob, Pennie, Iwan and Frost recorded some rough demos and soon attracted the interest and rapid signing to their management. The band then spent the second half of 2004 in rehearsal studios in Cardiff working on new material before starting gigging around the South Wales scene.
In May 2005 they went into studio to record demo versions of 'Monster' and 'Rats' with producer Richard Jackson which caught the ear of happening independent label B-Unique Records. They caught the band in June at Cardiff Barfly and, having been completely blown away by the show, a whirlwind romance followed and in July 2005 a deal was signed." - from official site
I guess they're a kinda indie-ish band in a way. Also very brilliant to dance like a loon to, so kinda poppy-ish too. I don't know, you can't really label them at all, they kinda fall into so many different catagories at the same time. They're just brilliant If you've heard them before, the songs you most likely would have heard are 'Monster' and 'Raoul', both very catchy and hard to get out of your head. Their album, 'Not Accepted Anywhere' is really really great, I highly reccomend it

Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 37 | September 1st, 2006 at 08:04pm Like them, I do. Hot stuff, is that Rob. And Pennie's dead cute. But yeah, dance indie, all the way! I like indie. Indie's good. The term indie lost all meaning a while back, but now it's a style, and it's a good style. Like The Kooks. Aww, Luke Pritchard's dead cute. You seen his pwitty curls? But yeah, the Automatic, like 'em. |

I have the fullest of respect for them, come on ANOTHER GREAT WELSH BAND. The songs are really something. Just dont try bopping about in those headphones with the really short wires in somewhere like Virgin Megastores, cause they normally fly off and break xD |

| September 25th, 2006 at 02:33am Yeah so I totally met them. We went to their signing in Virgin Megastores on Friday and were in the middle of the front row.
Sexy right?
Then we got out singles signed and Pennie said "Nice top" because I was wearing an 'I heart The Automatic" top even though I'm not a huge fan.
I had to get him to repeat that a few times because his voice is so incredibly hard to understand, though, mostly because of Jelie squeeling.
Then Frost was next but he sucks and didn't even say Hi.
The drummer asked how I was and I was all "I- I- I'mma f-f-fine thanks!" It was very cute.
Then I went to ROB my FAVOURITE because of his BOOBIES and he said hello and I asked for a photo and he said sure and so here it is!
And this is how amazingly close we were [Note: I didn't take these pictures, my friend Tabi did who I was standing next to!]
[Extra Note: She zoomed in whilst taking these shots but you get the clear idea that we were at the front, right?]
