don't ask. don't tell

In the almighty way, losing focus,
has the light at the end of the tunnel
gone out? Does it seem like at every
turning point in your life you reach a
tall brick wall? Listen to my soul sing.

Ninety long years after my sudden arrival
and I have returned to care.
I feel like I am a meek child, and yet
my skin is grey and tattered,
my hair gone and I recieve comtempt,
not cute oohs and ahhs.

Teenages think they are lonely,
you don't know the meaning.
Ninety long years and a trail
of lovers and friends left along the path.
Each to their own gravestone
or immigration. And yet and yet
some of you envy me?

There's nothing to envy. No future
except the certain burial. No friends
who remember you or are alive.
I'm lost and confused like a
child in a supermarket.
And forever in my dreams I call.
"Mommy, mommy, mommy."

Some say I'm a bitter twisted old fool,
an expression like a dog chewing a wasp.
So would you be and you will be.
Age is not a virtue, it's a curse.
I have as much freedom as a toddler,
but I'd rather be the toddler.
Innocent and pure, beautiful,
the world just beginning.
My world is dark and knowing
and is forever ending.

That was...great, yet strangely disturbing and achingly sad.
