Wow. You'll never know how much I missed you guys. I swear, my writing hasn't been all that good being away from all my muses and inspirations.
Anyway, this is the first of one of my holiday poems.
Midnight On The Motorway (Sidetracked By The Stop Signs, But I Did Set Out To See You).
These city scapes are false escapes to love-bound heartbeats but
they seem to be my only companions, as temporary as the sighs
I breathe, and there are tear drops like rain stopped on the car window,
sauntering down the pane with such beautifully tragic conviction.
I only want to be free from the endless road, the motorway moans
and the concrete tones. I just want to be in that single bed we share.
Keep envisioning those cold-shower dreams and maybe you'll pull through.
The lessons you learn beneath streetlamps glow bolder in the dark.
I passed a garage half an mile into my insensibilities but they couldn't
mend this busted heart and spent-out mind in the effortless way that
you always seemed to do with angelic ease and caring dedication.
I should have realised you can only find saviours on a mattress.
Always lost and found my mind beneath the covers beside a beauty
so undefined it should be a sin to leave these kisses upon it, but I'll
play the unrepentant sinner just to let you know that I love you,
I miss you and I need you for so much longer than just this life.
Yet, in this distance, my lips have grown accustomed to pouting;
blowing air kisses to the wind and wishing they'll reach you somehow.
And my eyes are straining from these longing daydreams, looking
for a landmark that guides my paranoia that much closer to home
but dirt track roads and derelict homes were never pitstops to Heaven.
So I'll keep clicking my heels together and setting off the fire alarms
with my insistent efforts of just being closer than mileage will permit.
The red lights are burning brighter to tempt me into adamant delirium
but with twenty miles left till Heaven, I'm already out of my mind. |

I dunno, maybe it's just being away from your poetry for a while, but this one seemed extremely extra brilliant. I loved every word. Makes me wish I could write a poem this good now, haha. I do believe you've inspired me. I don't think I've written anything since you left.  |
